@Draconequis just out of curiosity, is this Laurry like a clone of the other one, or just from a different period of time? and yay, seeing Xafina and Dan again! :D))

Shei

Shei raised an eyebrow and looked at Laurry with new appreciation. Poisonous? Nice. And, of course, it suited his profession even more than the shapeshifting. Lucky ringworm. His next words rang deep with her, though. Even in the darkness... we can feel emotions too. That was right, wasn't it? Kalaziel's powers had reached her and Oni through the garden walls... even when they were so miserable they were numb, her voice reminded them how to feel. She twitched a smile towards the woman behind her back, then untied Juna, Tiny and Clueless from their post.

Laurry commented on her weapon choice, making her snort at him derogatively. "Biology never stopped me before." She flipped her hair over her shoulder in a move that would have enraged the lady- she was still alive now, huh, wasn't she. funny how Shei didn't really care- and settled into Juna's saddle.

Kalaziel really did look pretty damn cool, she reflected with a sigh as the woman tilted her masked face towards her horse. She guided Juna next to Laurry's horse and waited as Oni went quiet. "... Um." He said eloquently. Rolling her eyes, she ignored Laurry's smirk and snarky comment. This was a moment that required finesse. Leaning out of the saddle, she placed her foot between Oni's shoulder blades and shoved.

Oni

Swallowing a yelp, Oni caught himself just before he stumbled into Kalaziel. "Y-yeah, okay," he said hurriedly seeing Shei lift her foot again with a threatening look. Coughing, he cupped his hands awkwardly. This was how he was supposed to do it, right?

Shei sighed dramatically behind him. What was he supposed to do? Turning to make a you're-not-helping face at her, he saw her motion to her waist and mimic lifting something. Oh. Oh.

It didn't even occur to him to argue. Living with Shei, one got used to accepting her preposterous ideas. That didn't stop his face from looking like a beetroot as he turned back to Kalaziel, who no doubt saw the whole thing. "Do you- are you okay if I-" Gods, after they made it to the forest he was climbing a tree and never coming down. Giving up on words, he shook his head and simply hoped she wouldn't feel uncomfortable as he gently placed his hands on her waist and lifted her onto the saddle.

"Sorry," he said as he let go and wrung his hands. Moving back to his own horse, he got on and tried to focus on remembering what the signals were. His ears burned hot and Shei moved into step with him, looking pleased with herself. He wasn't sure whether to thank her or complain. His hands still shook from the contact. Kalaziel was... heavier than she looked. She felt real.

@kamiden (he's from another time, same exact Laurry, i think its probably past Laurry before he met Shei and the Angel and everything XD)

Kalaziel

Oh!! Kalaziel had not been expecting Oni to pick her up by her waist. Her face turned red, but was thankfully hidden by the mask as Oni set her rather easily into the saddle. She had just been hoping for a small boost.. not for him to pick her up! Not that she minded.. really.. though his touch had shocked her and made her heart beat just a little bit faster.

Kalaziel took a glance back to Oni. "Uhm.. thank you." He'd been so gentle with her.. and his touch had been so soft.. yet strong.. her face reddened as she realized that a man she scarcely knew had touched her in such an.. intimate way. Well.. intimate for her.

____

Laurry

Laurry lead the four of them in through the village. Like he said, they were given wide birth, mainly because of Kalaziel, fearful glances and the windows of shops and inns were shut, people scattered off the streets, giving them clearance to wander through nearly empty streets.

They had been traveling together for enough time for the sun to start lowering in the sky, and the faint red of the setting sun glinted over the horizon.

Laurry smirked at Shei, dismounting his horse, tying it up in front of what looked like a church.

"here we go." he commented. "dismount here."

He waited patiently until the others had finally finished getting off their horses and lead them into the church. Without a word, he knocked on the confessional to the left three times and then wandered in after coughing. The confessional had a false back entrance which lead to a strange hallway which twisted downwards, spiraling down stairs and a into an underground labyrinth. "Stick close if you don't want to get lost." He tuned back to the group.

They were in the labyrinth for some time before it emptied into a large wooden door. Laurry froze when he saw the door, his eyes grew dark. The door was opened a slight crack and there was the scent of smoke coming from behind the door.

Worry set in his eyes, Laurry burst through the door. "Stay back." he shouted as he charged deep into the guild.

Of course.. Kalaziel curiously snuck up to the door and peered inside, only to back away in horror.

It was a blood bath.. dead men and women lay sprawled on the ground, their heads torn off, or hearts ripped out, some were even burnt to a crisp. She turned away, feeling sick to her stomach, her hands fluttered up to her mouth as she tried to forget what she had just seen.

Laurry was inspecting the bodies, a steely cold glare on his normally cheery face. he glanced tot he wall and saw a shape. He froze, staring. There on the wall was that mask.. the same mask he had smashed violently on the table when he had bought a mask for Kalaziel. It had been glued back together and to the face of one of his guild mates, who had been nailed to the wall with their arms and legs spread eagle.

"Laurry... laurry.." A rasping voice came from his left and he looked over to see the guild master, his face fell and he reached to the man who had raised him, placing a hand in the guild master's abnormally cold one. The guild master was in bad shape, his chest smashed in, and half his face torn by claws. "We were so careful.." he rasped. "You.. you need.." he reached up to Laurry and whispered something in his ear. "I'm sorry my boy.. i'm sorry." He took his final breath and fell into the shadows, his hand growing cold and stilff in Laurry's hand.

Laurry just stared at his guild master, his shoulders slumped.

Shei

A bad feeling settled in Shei's stomach when Laurry told them to stay back. Kalaziel shied away from the door, and Oni moved over to her and rubbed her back soothingly. Laurry had gone in alone. Gritting her teeth, Shei moved forward. She couldn't leave him to face... whatever this was by himself. "Stay here," she told the other two, and went in.

The stench of burnt meat, and blood... Her head reeled. She stopped for a moment, took a deep breath, and kept going, passing all of the corpses with her head held low. All of them... were Laurry's family. She had to get to him faster. It felt like Shei was shaking apart, harder with each body she passed. There was a corpse on the wall, with a strange fractured mask on their face.

When she found Laurry, shoulders slumped in front of another dead body, she didn't hesitate to go to him. "It's just me," she let him know as she placed her hand on his back. She didn't know what else to say that wouldn't sound hollow. Are you okay? Sorry for your loss?

No one close to her had ever died before. People from her village, yes, but none of them had ever been more than background noise to her, and none had ever died so violently as this.

Grief made her chest ache as she bent her head. All these people... who could have done something like this? The body on the wall seemed to convey the killer's real message, with everything else... just there for emphasis. She couldn't for the life of her understand what it was.

_ _ _ _ _

Oni

He couldn't look. As soon as Kalaziel backed away from the door, he knew he couldn't do it- before they even reached the end of the maze, he smelled something that he recognised now as dead bodies. He hadn't been sure whether he should mention it before, if it was a normal smell in a killer's guild... Guilt overwhelmed him. But as sorry for Laurry as he felt, he couldn't bring himself to go after the man- not into that nightmare. He wasn't strong enough to bear seeing what his other senses told him was there.

Rubbing Kalaziel's back, Oni turned his face away quickly as Shei strode inside, face grim. He touched Kalaziel's shoulder, clenching his nose at the sudden sickening stench. A wave of nausea hit him. "Let's.... go back a bit," he said. Face ashen, he led them back around the last corner they turned, where the smell wasn't so overpowering.

Wrestling off his suit jacket, he laid it on the cold ground. "Here, sit down. Are you okay?" Immediately he felt foolish. Of course she wasn't going to be okay, she'd just seen- that. "Do you want to go back outside?" He could follow their scent back above, now that they'd gone through the maze once. It felt cowardly to leave while Shei and Laurry were still in there, but... he really just wanted to leave. It felt like he'd stepped out of his cage only to fall into something worse.

Laurry

Laurry just knelt for a moment beside his mentor.. his father... he stared blankly. And then Shei.. a gentle hand on his back. And he close his eyes, trying to forget what he had saw.. and trying to pretend as if this had never happened.

Several moments passed as he knelt next to the guild master. After a moment of just staring, Laurry stood, cold fury on his face, he whipped around and stared at Shei.

"We need to get out of here. Now." his voice was remarkably low and deep. "Its not safe for us here. Those who did this.. they... they will receive their dues in time. For now.. we must go."

As he faced Shei, a flash of silver surged towards her back. Laurry reacted quickly, curling his arm around her back to catch the dagger with the back of his hand, blood sprayed the ground and Laurry growled.

Laurry pulled Shei into himself, letting out an angry hiss, the rings on his arms flashing red, and two extra tentacles sprouted from his shoulders. He maneuvered Shei to the side, moving her out of the way as he yanked the daggar from his hand and faced the person who had attacked him.

A strange beastly creature stood before Laurry, more animal than human. A lithe, snake-like body covered in thick black wrappings, and face obscured by the same mask that hung on the wall. The snake-like creature pounced at Laurry and they met in the throngs of battle. This was not like the fighting he'd done in the crowd with Kalaziel and from watching him now it was clear he'd been holding back. This was fighting to kill. Dagger clashed against dagger, tentales driven away by clever footwork. Until Laurry managed to grab hold. Swiftly he moved, pinning the man against the wall with a snarl.

"Who do you work for?" He held the dagger to the man's neck.

The snake-like man laughed and spouted rather colorful words about Laurry's mother before breaking off into another language where it was clear he was insulting Laurry as well.

Disgust curled Laurry's lip and he plunged the dagger violently into the man's forehead, releasing him and allowing his tentacles to melt into his body. "F*CK," he swore.

All of his family, all of his friends, mutilated, burned to death. How dare they.. how dare they even do such a thing? He'd left them alone because he thought them as harmless little flies.. but now he regretted it.

Laurry glanced to Shei, sorrow clear in his eyes. "We have to go.. now. That guy was just a scout.. here to make sure they were all dead. We will be in trouble when they come looking for him. I can't handle that many guys on my own, and there's no way you are fighting any of them, too dangerous. They'd skin you alive." Something about what he said sounded like the people he was talking about might actually skin someone alive.
_ _ _ _ _

Kalaziel

Kalaziel shook, and then thought of poor Laurry. This had been his family. The very same one he had defended from Shei. She clenched her hands into fists, staring at the ground, but still unable to do anything but feel like she wanted to throw up.

And then Oni patted her shoulder, leading her back around the last corner, away from the scent of the death which she couldn't seem to get out of her nose She shook her head when he asked her to sit. And instead opened her mouth and started to sing only loud enough for him to hear.

A blessing, a song to send the souls of those who had died to the afterlife. it sang of bitterweet, with a tone of fear behind it. She ended the song with fear. "I..." and then tears streamed down her face and before she knew what she was doing, Kalaziel had buried her face into his chest, her arms gripping the front of his shirt as she cried into his chest. her tears streamed out from under her own mask and she just clung to him.

Shei

Everything happened so fast after that- before Shei could even blink, Laurry had taken a knife for her and was fighting some kind of reptilian beast. It was a nightmare of a battle, a deadly dance that Shei could only watch from the sidelines. Unable to interfere or help, she scowled in frustration. Her heart beat fast in fear, but her mind was strangely calm, working as quickly as it always did. She was able to check around the room with a glance for other- other people like this one, but as far as she could tell no one else seemed to be around. Still, she kept her guard up.

Laurry soon had the other pinned and tried futilely to get information. Shei wrinkled her nose at the flurry of distasteful insults that followed, staying well back from the pair. She flinched seeing the knife sink into the snake-like person's forehead, but didn't let herself look away. This was what Laurry did, she reminded herself as the life faded from the scout's eyes. This was his guild's legacy. He didn't even look back at his work before turning to her, and she fought not to let her eyes linger either.

Biting her lip with a small shudder, she nodded at him. "Got it. Let's go. And..." Hesitantly, she went up to him and slipped her hand into his, squeezing it hard. "Thank you. For protecting me." Under her spoken words rang another message. Let me help you too. You're not alone.

There was too much death in this place. She walked faster, pulling Laurry along via their connected palms.

Oni

Oni didn't bother to pick the jacket back up, shutting his eyes as Kalaziel sang- he hadn't like the restricting feeling anyway. Tears streamed down his face, and he fought not to shudder at the power in Kalaziel's voice making his skin crawl. Farewell, he thought to the spirits laying behind those guild doors. Farewell.

The song ended worryingly. Oni opened his eyes, only to flinch as a sudden soft mass hit his chest. On instinct he wrapped his arms around her and his legs gave out, bringing them both to the ground. They trembled like leaves. Carding his fingers- uncontrollably sharp from his unstable emotions, but he tried to keep from scratching her- through her hair, he held her tightly as he sobbed silently.

He didn't know how much time passed until he felt even remotely close to stopping his tears, but Shei and Laurry weren't back yet. Sucking in a deep, shuddering breath, he loosened his iron grip around Kalaziel, though not quite completely letting her go yet. "I'm... sorry. You deserved... a better introduction to the outside world." Things had seemed so hopeful before they left the mansion grounds, but the real thing... freedom was just as scary as slavery, even more unpredictable.

Laurry

Laurry's squeezed her hand in return, a faint smile crossing his face. Blood dripped slowly down the wound on his un-occupied injured hand and hit the floor. "Sure thing, Shei." The first time he'd used her actual name instead of calling her by some ridiculous nickname he had come up with out of nowhere. It sounded strange. "Couldn't have let him just stab you. That would have been rude."

Laurry stared down at his wound, a frown stretching across his face. It was burning slightly. Hurting just a little. Probably poisoned. Assassins often dipped their blades in poison. It was a good thing Laurry had been trained to resist poisons. So that meant they had some time before the affects actually showed. He'd head to get healed and not say a word to the others. What they didn't know didn't have to hurt them.

And then there was the matter of the Broken. Clearly they'd chosen to chase after Laurry... and somehow they had known the location of the guild... it made him wonder how much more they knew. Did they know Laurry existed? Did they know his powers of transformation? Thinking about this was making his head spin. In his irritation, the rings on his arms started flashing various colors, and both of his arms rippled slightly, transforming into tentacles for a moment before flashing back to regular hands. For a fleeting moment though, Shei was holding his tentacle. a strange sensation indeed.

Laurry and Shei ended up back out near Oni and Kalaziel he was too deep in his thoughts to make a comment about the way they were cuddling. He just stared at the ground. "I need a drink."

Kalaziel

Kalaziel felt the gentle nails on her head, sharp and dangerous, though they would never hurt her. She felt him crying as she did, his tears dripped into her hair and she only curled more into him, her arms circling him in an attempt to soothe him, even though she was crying herself.

Honestly, his arms were comforting, even though he was shaking and seemed just as afraid as she was. Eventually she couldn't cry anymore, and she just lay there, arms curled around him, listening to his heart beat as he sucked in a breath and spoke.

She simply nodded, her eyes red and puffy from crying. She didn't want to get up yet. it was just easier to lay here for a while.. and think. Until Shei and Laurry walked back into the room.

Kalaziel's face turned beet red as she realized how it must have looked to Laurry and Shei, she hastily broke away from Oni, she'd never touched a man for so long before... and now she felt bad.. She'd just thrown herself at him and cried. "I'm sorry." She stated, and it wasn't very clear who she was apologizing to.. Laurry for losing his family.. or Oni for when she threw herself into his arms and cried into his chest.

Laurry was the first to break the rather awkward silence. "We need to leave. I'm sorry. Its not safe for anyone here. I need to get you as far away from here as possible and leave you... before the Broken end up targeting you too." he seemed sad, and his eyes lingered on Shei before turning back to Oni and herself. "I'm sorry you had to see that... it was not my intention to expose any of you to this. It seems that i have screwed up again." Kalaziel's eyes drifted to Laurry's face. Was it her imagination or were those tiny beads of sweat? And did his eyes look a little less focused than before? And.. was his hand dripping with blood? What had happened while she had been crying?

Shei

He said her name, and Shei blinked at him for a moment as something loosened and tightened in her stomach at the same time. Wondering what the hell that was about, then deciding to ignore it, she glanced up at him almost- shyly. But Laurry wasn't looking at her. Shei narrowed her eyes at his distracted face, looking down at the wound on his hand. She sucked in a sharp breath. Right. he had put himself between her and the blade. He... probably had it covered, right? After all, he was a professional. Still, Shei felt a stab of guilt. She had to regain the skills she'd lost stagnating in the mansion. Otherwise, she would just be dead weight to the man, and unable to help him.

The hand she held rippled and changed, and Shei blinked down at it in surprise, the unnatural sensation sending goosebumps up her spine. The tentacle was... soft. Slimy too, but more surprising than that was how velvety it felt. And there were also small round... things on the underside. Shei laughed in surprise as they stuck fast to her palm, a single sharp noise in the silence, but it was back to a five-fingered hand in hers before she had a chance to look at it further. She'd have to ask Laurry to let her take a better look later, then.

Apologetically she glanced around, hoping the spirits of this place weren't offended by her lack of propriety. The pressure didn't seem quite as heavy as when they'd gone in. She wondered if some of them had gone on to the afterlife once the scout was gone.

Oni and Kalaziel were farther away from the entrance than they had been earlier, and Shei made a surprised noise at the sight of their huddled forms together. It seemed mostly innocent, though Kalaziel was quick to flush and pull away when she saw them. Oni was left blinking rather sadly at the loss, and Shei raised her eyebrow at him in a weak attempt for normalcy. He copied the expression somewhat half-heartedly, pointing it at their linked hands.

Oni

Oni let Kalaziel go, already missing the cold where she had been pressed against him. But far be it from him to force her to stay for his own comfort. Sprouting more fur over his cheeks to make up for it, he blinked at her in confusion as she apologised. Was she aiming it at him or...? Then Laurry spoke, and he was only more confused. The Broken? Broken what?

Oni watched as Shei squeezed Laurry's hand, face turning pale and green at alarming rates like she was fighting the urge to puke. Neither of them looked well, come to think of it, Laurry's free hand was dripping blood. What had happened in there? "Leave... us?" He asked timidly. Why was that, of all things, the first he asked about? Oni cursed himself, but couldn't stop the rapidly fledging distress in his voice. "But what... about you?" The man didn't look like he was in any state to be by himself, and Oni... Oni hadn't even been thinking of splitting up so soon.

"Yeah, 'cos we're totally going to leave you just like that." Shei looked at the man, her deadpan quickly falling into concern. By silent agreement, neither of them asked Laurry to illuminate on the Broken business, since the man clearly not up for monologuing just yet. "Oni can patch you up, stop the bleeding for now, but you definitely need to go to a clinic or something." As she spoke, she towed him forward into the labyrinth. The quicker they left this place, the quicker they could find somewhere to treat the injury.

Oni took a second to glance back at Kalaziel. He stretched out a hand sp she could take it, if she wanted to. "Don't worry... about apologising," he told her softly. "Not your fault."

Laurry

Laurry kept his hand weaved in Shei's for.. stability.. for.. a way to anchor himself to the earth. He followed her through the labyrinth for a moment before realizing with a jolt she had no idea where she was going and taking the lead himself.

And then, what she said echoed down the hallway. He closed his eyes for a moment, heaving a sigh before reopening them and taking a sharp left. "You won't be leaving me. I will be leaving you. Somewhere safe.. where you won't have to deal with any of this." he shook his head. "Listen, I'm not recognizable. i don't have a face of my own, not even sure my name is my actual name.. I can vanish into a crowd easily.. because its my job to scatter. While you all. None of you can vanish. You have recognizable faces which always stay the same. I need to get you out of this before you end up getting caught up in this web of death."

Kalaziel

Kalaziel placed her hand hesitantly in Oni's allowing him to help her up. His hand was oddly comforting now.. and she didn't care that their palms touching was scandalous. It didn't matter. She needed the comfort more than she cared about appearances.

She just stared at the ground now, unable to think of anything to say. What she had just seen.. it was so much worse than anything she'd expected to see. She'd been to a hospital before.. sang to people who were going to die.. but still.. they weren't bloodied like this.. their eyes were never dead.. their bodies weren't burnt, their insides were still on the inside. She just followed, listening to Laurry talk for a moment before gathering her thoughts and speaking.

"You promised to take us to that place with the cliff, the ocean, and the forest. How will you do that if you leave us?" She managed.

Laurry glanced back to Kalaziel for a moment before turning his head back to where he was walking. "I.. will take you there first. Actually.. going somewhere far away from here is what we need." He shook his head. "I do have my pride.. even if i am an Assassin. I always do what i promise to do."

Kalaziel honestly felt glad that Laurry was coming with them, and wouldn't be leaving them for a while. Even if he was a little scary, she kind of liked how he talked, and the way he was always saying whatever was on his mind was admirable. Kalaziel sometimes wished she could do the same. Not that she had much on her mind to share really.

She squeezed Oni's hand gently, pulling the hooded cloak around her body. With this.. she felt like she was shielded from the world. Though she had removed her mask and left it with Tiny.. she kind of liked the cloak.. and how she could hide underneath it.

Shei

Scoffing, Shei let Laurry lead them. Better for him to keep his mind moving, so he didn't faint or something, right? Or was that for concussions. Well... whatever. Shei was hardly a doctor, but this made sense to her. "Semantics, semantics. Either way, you mean to split up with us." Sure, he promised to stay with them until they reached the promised cliff-sea-forest place, but the idea of parting with him, even if it was in the far future...

Shei hadn't realised until now, but... it wasn't just Shei-and-Oni now. Sometime between meeting those two and leaving with them, it had turned into Shei-and-Oni-and-Kalaziel-and-Laurry. Gods damn it all. Tightening her grip on his hand, wishing she could make herself let go before she fell any deeper into this mess, she stated shortly, "Look, L- worm, I don't know what the Broken is, but well... I have a pretty good idea of what they can do, from seeing all that. And, f*ck, I don't know, maybe it would be better for us civilians to stay away from them. But you... I don't-... ugh. Oni, words?" Her thoughts were too messy, too angry to define into words and she looked back at Oni for help.

"What will you do after helping us?" He filled in quietly, looking at Laurry with a searching look as he moved to the man's other side with Kalaziel. If they were to hold hands, the link of four people would be complete. "Take revenge on the- the Broken? By yourself? None of us doubt your abilities, but... you shouldn't have to do it alone. Shei's offering her help." Shei felt her ears burn. After a beat of hesitation, Oni added, "I am too." His expression held fear, but also resolution.

Oni

Oni felt a smile curl his lip at Shei's irritated huff after he spoke, but she didn't deny anything he said. He knew she didn't want him to reveal that much, but she wasn't as gruff and tough as she thought.

Eventually they reached the staircase they'd originated from, Oni seeing it first through the darkness. How long had they been in there? He wondered. It was probably night time already. He felt a twinge of fear, but a quick squeeze of Kalaziel's hand settled it. He wasn't alone, he remembered; whatever was in the dark couldn't be any stronger than Laurry and Shei, and Kalaziel's powers.

Grasping Laurry's sleeve, he pulled all four of them towards the staircase, keeping his senses open for anyone up there. It didn't feel like there was... but just in case, he gently pulled Kalaziel behind him, so she was in front of Laurry and Shei covered the back of the line with her dagger drawn. The axe had been too obvious and awkward to take inside the church, but he could tell she regretted leaving it behind.

The staircase was narrow, and felt endless. Somehow Oni had managed to keep up with the activity all day, but by the time they reached the top he was ready to take a nap. Peering through the confessional door, he checked around for any people, but it was dead silent to his ears. His pupils had gone completely dark as he searched the dark corners, and they flashed as he turned to the group to mutter, "Think it's clear."

"Are there even any clinics open now?" Shei wondered under her breath.

Laurry

Laurry shrugged, actually a bit shocked as Shei squeezed his hand. After a moment of staring at her and realizing what she said, he released her hand. Almost missing its warmth.. and gentleness.. almost.

Laurry sighed. "Moxie." He pat the back of her hand gently before withdrawing his hand to his side. "Yes.. that is probably what i will do. Listen.. the Broken.. they.. they aren't normal.. they aren't sane.. and its my fault they are even out right now."

He ran his hands through his hair. "A few months back i took on this assassination. Conroy. the king's twelfth son. A cocky b*stard who could convince you to cut off your left hand and give it to him in a box as a present. he was researching a 'cure' for Anima. As he called it. In reality.. he just tortured Anima.. no way to know how many died under his hands. He hurt them until they weren't human or Anima anymore.. they were his playthings. He had a sick obsession with a poor girl.. he shattered her world... repeatedly. She fell in love once.. he took her love and turned him against her using torture to make the guy into his personal slave. He r aped her.. he.. burnt her.. he blinded her. All because.. he loved her. What a disgusting way to show love." he trembled. "It was the hardest job ive ever done. Fooling a clever person is not easy. I had to be vigilant.. constantly change shape.. and all of my hard work still ended in a one on one confrontation with the guy. I won.. but barely escaped with my life. At his death.. he set off a final trap. You see.. he didn't just kill the Anima. No.. He decided to spare some of them.. some of the ones with more powerful or useful Anima. He tortured them so much that they became his slaves.. his soldiers.. they obeyed his every command. These are the ones we call the Broken. They rose a flag in his name.. vowing to continue his cause and wipe Anima from the world. I thought they were harmless.. i ignored them. And they gathered more members.. using the same sick method the guy used to twist minds to their cause." he stared intently at Oni, Shei, and Kalaziel in turn. "They are war machines. They can't feel pain, they have remarkable fighting skills, they are not something that civilains should ever face. They are my responsibility.. i must take care of what i did."

He turned back away from them, nursing his hand. "I'll be alright for a while. I've had worse"

Kalaziel

Kalaziel just listened to everyone talk, following closely. She felt so safe with everyone surrounding her. Even in the darkness, she felt protected. A soft smile danced across her face.

And then Laurry spoke of the broken. She could feel the pain in his voice.. the fear.. the sorrow. And she felt a lump in her throat as he spoke of the girl.. the girl the man loved.. so he hurt her... hurt her in ways Kalaziel couldn't even imagine. What kind of horrible person would do such a thing? And Laurry had taken this man out of the world.. so that Anima could be safe.

Suddenly, Kalaziel felt admiration for the Assassin. he might be a killer.. but.. he was a killer for a good cause. Still.. the hurt.. the pain in his eyes... and his voice. Without even thinking, she broke away from Oni's grasp and seized his sleeve, yanking him towards her. She curled her arms around him and sang softly in his ear.

Soothing, to relax his tense shoulders, to take the fear away from his face. To bring him down from his pedestal and back to earth.

Laurry just stiffened as she hugged him, his eyes softened as she sang and he returned her hug, the stress visibly melting away from his shoulders in waves.

After she finished, Kalaziel pulled away and smiled, patting him on the head like a dog. "I might not know much about everything. But.. i do know that you are a good person. And ive decided that anywhere you go.. i will go too."

Laurry nodded slowly, other emotions filling his body now that the stress was gone. Mainly.. sorrow. He blinked his tears away quickly.

"Its bad to hold in your emotions." She said. "Its okay to cry."

"I'm not holding in my emotions.. and i don't cry." Laurry stated sharply, pulling away from Kalaziel. "I can't endanger more people."
