@stormdrink It was my first time racing! (And my first Brightshine actually...my account is only about 6 months old!) So I'll be ready next time. [emoji=bogsneak tongue size=2]

Ignore a lot of the things I wrote being wildly inaccurate; like I said, I was figuring how how the heck everything worked and only just realized when @/NotMothMan pointed it out that that little chart at the bottom of every round post were the roll totals for the next round. I thought they were just pretty charts to remind us which dragons each team had and COMPLETELY ignored the numbers to the right of each dragon. team dash was also strategizing a lot the whole time haha, i even cobbled together this monster of a spreadsheet to help streamline the strategizing process. we werent always correct, but it was a fun challenging mental exercise (in both strategizing and working out spreadsheet functions to automate the math and abilities auto-filling)
(this is from round 4, subsequent rounds i didnt get around to copying our discussed predictions into the sheet)

@mynnthia Oh my GOSH, the amount of strategizing going on in this heat! And it's hilarious because we were all mostly silent except for rp (sorry I never got around to that, y'all - helping out with BSJ kept me pretty tied up the whole time.) And now that it's over, we've become such chatterboxes!
The funny thing is, we didn't do a whole lot of strategizing in most rounds. @NotMothman and @OnnaStik could do a lot of it in their heads, and then often it seemed our move was obvious, so it was kind of a "do you concur?" "I concur!" situation most rounds.
And then the night before last I decided to bust out the character sheets and meta game and I thought "...have you guys been doing this THE WHOLE TIME?"

@OnceWorries honestly it was nice when the answer was p straightforward, we would sometimes each or collectively spend hours trying to make predictions and in the end it was still up in the air whether or not we would win ¯\_(?)_/¯
it was lowkey kind of stressful bc i had a bunch of work stuff going on at the same time but I was OBSESSED and seeing how the race progressed was worth it (in part bc of @jeevas’ fun narration), also rp-ing was good stress relief in a way

@stormdrink @mynnthia You're surprisingly the second team that's outted themselves as going all out on spreadsheets and calcs for my races. [s]I could probably use you, mynnthia, for our spreadsheet woes. I needed a certified navy engineer to suggest me this new spreadsheet format so that it would save and calculate my maths step-by-step, saving me probably 45min of time compared to last year...[/s]
But yeah, turns out Goldia is also a spreadsheet goblin, but sadly couldn't join us this race. I'm still super happy to see so many fresh faces! The gospel of The [s]Not Boat[/s] Race must spread far and wide!
@OnceWorried Oh noooo! Well, you were very busy so I'd give yourself a pass for not looking super closely at all the images, but while I like everything to look pretty, the charts have very distinct purposes, lol. After two iterations of this race, I've tried making everything as transparent and easy to find/reference as possible and I'd like to think I've gotten it down to a science ;)

@/Jeevas Thank YOU for hosting such an interactive event that really provokes the imagination with the clever movesets, theming, and fun flavor text for the race updates! [emoji=familiar heart size=1]

I missed out on the @Jeevas love. This was so fun! And I really enjoyed my team, so whatever spidey sense you used to put the singlets together into teams, thanks for giving me some good ones!
The round 7 discussion was SO INTENSE for us, we were going back and forth and back and forth and I was finally learning the game so...better late than never? And I gotta say, it's a really neat format. And like Suzy said, you could have just posted the numbers and been like "here you go," but you went full EmperorZ and I LOVED IT.

@SuzyChi and co, thanks so much for much for the compliments! The lore is why I'm here on this site, and being able to add a little bit of writing fun for everyone means the world to me, and it doubly means the world to me that it's noticed and appreciated. I'll admit, it's the most stressful part of the event for me, and I'd probably save hours cutting out the play-by-play, but then the event would feel empty and soulless to me. So I'm glad you appreciate the fun little breakdowns of what actually happens per round, even though there's a tab for the calcs sitting wide open for anyone to see the raw numbers I could just point to.
Similarly, you guys' creative input gives me life. I legitimately didn't think anyone would care about their individual little faceless EmperorZ that were basically just silly team names, but holy cow did you guys blow me out of the water with your enthusiasm. I'll probably reiterate this on the wrap-up post (which I was creating but I got tired aaaa), but really, it means a lot. IRL's been really rough and you guys have reminded me that there's still a community out there that cares about what I do.
[s]Me, forgetting to un-ping myself from the quotes bc tired asdfadsfk[/s]

@Jeevas im surprised there havent been more spreadsheet users! (id love to see which was the other team!) i could try to help with your spreadsheet formatting if you’d like! i can also dm you with a link to my spreadsheet if you wanna study it :) i cobbled mine together from trial and error, so its a bit messy but gets the job done (i dont have any certification with spreadsheets, just self-taught haha)
(also, i think you posted heat C’s round 7 results on the front page instead of heat A!)
