this is going to be a personal challenge to encourage myself to worldbuild and create characters more than anything - i will be ignoring any flight rising lore and my dragons will not be dragons in the storyline. i have only a very vague sense of the world and story here and so i will be pretty much making it up as i go along.
i will be using typical pinkerlocke rules but softened a bit to make it easier for me, at least at the start, and i will be focusing far more heavily on making art than writing. i may write a little if i feel like it but the point of this is to push myself with drawing and painting especially.
my rules:
extremely vague story outline:
In [unnamed kingdom], adventurers set off across the land to help the people of the land recover from [unnamed calamity] after it irreversibly cursed the nation and its citizens to live forever in danger of [unnamed monstrosities], which continue to ravage the world, but which the people have begun to adapt to the presence of.

my rules:
Quote:
- Dragons under level 5 cannot die. If they die in the coliseum then a higher level dragon takes an injury for them, and if there are no higher level dragons nothing happens.
- Coliseum deaths from level 5 onwards result in a d20 roll. If the roll is above the dragon's level, they will die in the story and be removed from the challenge. I will likely keep them in my hibernal den. If they do not die, they will be severely injured in some way.
- Loot that isn't a Pinkerton drop is not relevant unless I decide it would be interesting if it is, such as with rare drops like dragon eggs or eliminate.
- Coliseum matches do not have to be consecutive.
- Begin with three adult dragons.
- Level 25 dragons retire
Drop table:
Food: The basics: enter the Coliseum! According to the table below, go through the amount of matches listed; it does not have to be all in a row!
Plants: 10-20 matches
Insects: 20-30 matches
Seafood: 30-40 matches
Meat: 40-50 matches
I decide which dragons to take and to which venue.
Materials: Painting! Do concept art style colour or value keys, environment, character or creature designs, portrait paintings, a spit paint based on a prompt, etc. I cannot do the same category of painting again until I have done two other drawings of different categories (for example, if I do a portrait painting I cannot do another one until I have done two drawings that are not portraits).
Trinkets: Character-based line or shape drawing! These can be expression sheets, animatics, pose sketch pages, silhouette designs, etc. Again, I cannot do the same category of drawing again until I've done two other different ones.
With both trinkets and materials, I can do the drawing on a different day, over the course of several days, or combine a trinket and material drawing (for example, character design and pose sketch page or silhouette designs, portrait painting and expression sheet etc.)
Familiars: Buy the cheapest dragon in the AH of a specific breed, gems or treasure. Use a random number generator to determine which breed to get.
1. Fae
2. Guardian
3. Mirror
4. Pearlcatcher
5. Ridgeback
6. Tundra
7. Spiral
8. Imperial
9. Snapper
10. Wildclaw
11. Nocturne
12. Coatl
13. Skydancer
14. Bogsneak
15. Obelisk
16. Gaoler
17. Banescale
18. Veilspun
19. Aberration
20. Undertide
21. Aether
Apparel: Breed two of your dragons. If you can't, you may either queue this for when it's possible or roll 1-4 for one of the food options.
Flip a coin for every hatchling. Every tails means a dead hatchling that must be exalted or removed from the Pinkerlocke.
In the context of the story, hatchlings will be children adopted from wreckages, and they will be largely be older children that can more believably age up in the timeline.
Materials:
Battle Items: Chance for a death streak. Flip a coin; if heads, a death streak happens, and if tails, nothing happens.
- Death streak: Three dragons must be chosen through a random generator and go through a Coliseum area corresponding to the second-highest level in the party. 10 rounds must be completed consecutively; if a dragon dies, the death streak is over and no more rounds are required.
