Quests & Challenges

EDIT 11/17/23: To the surprise of no one, I lost interest in this within a few days. I’m not going to delete this, but I’m not continuing it. Welcome to my biolocke! I’ve been trying to come up with lore for my dragons for a while now, have come up with and discarded more ideas than I care to admit, and have finally found some ideas I want to stick with. The problem now is that I can never be bothered to write any of it down or expand on it. Sometimes I just need a little nudge, and that’s where this comes in! I’ve modified the rules a little to fit my needs, but they aren’t that different from the original rules. They’re also subject to change at any time, because I’m still feeling out my limits, and it’s possible that I’ve made it a bit too easy for myself, or forgot to include something. This is meant to be casual, so I won’t update every day and won’t stress about missed days. I’ll try to do something every day I can, but some days I’m just not feeling it, and other days I have more important things to do than to play the online dragon game. The rarity of the item determines the minimum number of words written. Andromeda spends most of her time these days running the guild—networking, negotiating contracts, managing finances, and occasionally testing new recruits. She may have retired from adventuring, but she hasn’t gone soft. Andromeda has cultivated her natural affinity for illusions since her youth, and has taken advantage of her more sedentary lifestyle to further her studies. Hidden beneath the Forum, the winding halls of the Devouring Labyrinth are the subject of countless stories, be they cautionary tales taught to hatchlings, scary stories told amongst friends, or harrowed recollections from dragons foolish enough to enter and lucky enough to leave. For although the shadows within the Labyrinth hide little from Shadow dragons, they hide nothing from the monsters lurking within. And even if one managed to evade the monsters, there is no treasure trapped in the center, only a beast more powerful than the rest, trapped in an endless dream. Her Otherworldly Patron is might change, but for now Archfey is a good enough fit for her master.

This barely hit the minimum word count, but I like where it ends. Her elder clan-mates happily cultivated a love of learning in all the hatchlings they raised, and even brought them along on research expeditions to share in the joy of discovery. Many young dragons in her clan followed in their elders’ footsteps, and Driadne was no exception—she devoted her youth to scholarly pursuits, with a heavy focus on the age before dragons. It is her interest in ages past that lead Driadne to the Hewn City. And it is in those ruins shrouded in mystery that Driadne found Her. So, for now, I just added a Nightshade Harvest to Veores. Looking at his outfit, I’d say it’s safe to assume that [b]Veores[/b] is a [b]Bard (Eloquence)[/b]!

[center][b]Day 3:[/b] [item=Battered Shields] [i]100+ words of lore.[/i][/center] Anise is one of the only dragons whose lore acknowledges their actual, in-game family. Neither of her parents are my dragons, so they’ll only ever be mentioned. The way they’re portrayed here isn’t necessarily 100% accurate (more-so her mother than her father), but my excuse is that Anise is an unreliable narrator, and her own issues affect the ways she views her parents and their actions. She had been angry, when she first left her home in the Sunbeam Ruins. Angry at her father, for being a worthless deadbeat who ran at the first sight of consequences. Angry at her mother, for being so desperate for love that she clung and coddled until it choked. Angry at herself, for being little better than her father and leaving in the middle of the night, a note left behind to explain to her mother why yet another person she loved was abandoning her. She had been scared, when she left the Tangled Woods. Scared that she was unable to commit to anyone or anything. Scared that she felt too strongly for anyone to tolerate. Scared that she was becoming just like her parents. She had been desperate, when she entered the Viridian Labyrinth. Desperate to prove that she wasn’t just an amalgamation of her parents’ faults given flesh. Desperate to become better person than the one she was. Desperate to find a purpose. That’s when she learned about the Grove, and about it’s protector.
