this challenge and, idk, it seemed like fun! I've never actually done a breeding project before so I thought it'd be fun to try :3
I'll be using a slightly modified version of @
Kywren 's rules, as seen
here! My rules will be as follows:
- The first dragon must be from your least favorite breed on the site, and be all basic genes. It needs to be ugly; truly a dragon that should have been immediately exalted. It needs to be under 10kt, and RTB.
- Find it a mate! It needs to be RTB, and under 10kt. Roll a d20 (or less if there aren't enough pages) to determine the page to pick the mate from. Roll a d10 to chose the mate from that page. There's no requirement for triple genes. You get what you get. Make sure search parameters include only all Modern breeds to avoid accidentally rolling for an Ancient.
- Breed them! For the first nest, roll to see which heir to get. From there on out, you can choose which dragon from the nests to use as an heir. (not going to choose randomly because I have terrible luck looool)
- All other hatchlings can be exalted and/or sold, as can the parents once they have produced a nest.
- Your next dragon, and every dragon following that you get for a mate, must also be under 10k. You must still roll a d20 (or lower) to determine the page, but you will get to pick from there. Again, you can filter your search parameters to exclude Ancient breeds.
- No scry workshop until after the mate is purchased.
- You've completed the challenge when you have a dragon that your picky nature would be willing to put on display in their lair.
GOALS:
- Breed: Any Uncommon or higher breed; no Mirror, Tundra, Fae, or Guardian.
- Colors: Preferably bright colors, no muted tones or gray/black/white. I like my colors!! Ideally, warm tones or greens--I have too many cool colors as it is.
- Genes: No Basic, Python, Speckle, Tiger, or Flaunt (or their secondary counterparts). No Underbelly or Crackle either.

Tundras are my least favorite of the Starter breeds, and this boy is, uh. Hoo boy. That green does NOT go well with the blue. Even if I were to fully gene him he'd still look Bad. Overcast tert doesn't really help much, and he's a light blue which. I already have so many blues/cool tones. I'm sure someone out there would appreciate him but I am not among that number lol.
For his mate, I rolled a 9, and then a 10, to get Quill:

And honestly? I don't hate her!! Falcon/Peregrine are good genes. The only downside is that she is also cool-toned. Where's my warm tones!!
Honestly though I got kinda lucky, that page had a triple-basic Mirror for the first slot, which. Would not have helped whatsoever.
And they had 4 eggs!!

Got pretty lucky!! Several multi-gened bbies! And I couldn't choose so I did end up rolling which one to go for--and so this is the heir I'll be going with!
kinda enjoy the Ultramarine primary, and a warm-colored secondary!! Plus she's got two whole genes!! Named her Osprey :3
And for her mate, I rolled an 18 for the page number--there were a lot of cool tones, so I went with the only warm-toned baby on the page:

I was really torn between the Butterfly mirror and the red spiral; Butterfly would be a killer gene to have going forward, and I love the bright tert, but it's still too much cool tones and still a plentiful breed and is also stuck with underbelly. Meanwhile, the red spiral had a better tert, but a worse secondary, BUT was also a Spiral and red tones. Ultimately after consulting my buddy @hellmuh I settled on the red gal. And so we have our heir:

I rolled a 12 for her mate, and. Boy. There was nothing but cool-toned flaunt/flair boys which was exactly what I didn't want. My only option was this boy, who I named Pepper:

I'm really hoping his Eel catches on, and/or his Peacock since that's a step up from Capsule imo. I also hope his fae-ness does NOT pass on XD
