[b]Unfortunately, Wood Wasps are an introduced species to my area, and they are chasing out Mud daubers and other wasp species. The only way that we can take care of these pests is to try to treat timber infected by them to kill of larvae. I went out to a local park with a volunteer group to dig it up a few years ago, and I got stabbed by the thorns so many times, even though I had gardening gloves and long sleeves/pants on. It was brought over during england's colonizing era and is valued for being fairly nice looking an easy to grow. The problem is that it's [i]too[/i] easy to grow and also kills the trees and damages the walls it climbs up. Not only does it suppress the growth of native flora, it causes an increased wildfire hazard. Even worse, it's fire resistant so native plants get wiped out while the guinea grass continues to survive! Pulling them up by hand, spraying them with certain grass-killers, and continuous grazing by animals can help mitigate the impact this invasive species has on the landscape.
