I'm back babyyy
the Cuties opening kept me from wanting to do too much since I like to see how much this challenge makes me; also the lag was killer. But whatever the case, I'm back. Now I gave myself a modest 100k to buy fodder with. Anything past that needs to be earned from the challenge, or selling drops, etc. etc. This is so I don't go gung ho with prebuying fodder.

Euram was still recovering from the last scrap; nursing her wounds, tending to her people, laying low. The whole nine yards. No thanks to Bronwyn, who refused to conveniently give her three dragons any form of help. At least the new recruit was a woman of Euram's own heart.

After her heart wasn't an exaggeration, either. The bogsneak lady was loud, brash, and strong. She was tough as nails, with a sense of humor to match it. She'd even caught game with her own two claws and brought it back for Euram. She was a loyal follower, and one heck of a good fighter.

Another mission, another success.

Bronwyn couldn't be prouder. He confided in his pride over his clan to Oakley over lunch, and the two were bonding over this shared pride of the Clan.

Bronwyn, however, was really really bad at flirting.

And admitting his feelings.

So he did neither, and what could have been a proper dinner date was just a dinner, and Oakley was more than happy to share some time speaking with the King.

Euram hated the rain.
It soaked into her heavy fur, weighing her down and making it impossible to do anything without feeling miserable.

Next to her, Mahira was seen rolling and playing in the stuff, letting water and mud coat her every scale, turning her into a hilarious image of nothing but grime and filth and liquid.

If she wasn't cute, Euram wouldn't be out here.
But the Gaoler was attempting to impress her, so she was out here. Fortunately, Mahira didn't seem to notice that Euram hadn't moved from the same spot in over an hour.

"It's.... a gift. For you."

Gods, Euram was awkward, dropping the delicate jewelry at the claws of Mahira. The mercenary blinked, looked over the gem, and then looked up at Euram.

"I mean, thanks 'Ram, but...what's this for?" She inquired. "Y'know, I'm a mercenary, not a--"

"If you don't like it, you can just. Throw it in the mud for all I care." Euram hastily interjected.

"No, no, I love it; just... surprised, is all. You don't seem like the sappy, sentimental type."

"I'm not." Euram huffed.

"Well, thank you," Mahira hummed, placing it upon her neck and admiring herself in the reflection of the water. "I love it."

Journal - Kingdom
Well, the little charade had gone on long enough.
Bronwyn was getting tired of letting Euram's little rebellion go on much longer, so he called the entire Clan - including Euram - out to gather under his kingly rock so he could talk.

"My beloved subjects, I call you here today to bring to light something most sinister." Bronwyn announced.
"I've uncovered a plot to usurp my throne and leadership; for years we have lived in relative peace, but that is not enough for some dragons."

Unease rippled through the clearing. They all looked at each other, wondering if their neighbors were the suspected traitor. He shook his head, raising a claw for silence. His subjects obediently fell in line.
Bronwyn nodded to Oakley and Zorban, who surged forward loyally and seized Gazna, the Bogsneak.

Euram signaled with her tail to her people to not make any movements. All she could do is watch.

Bronwyn glared daggers down to Gazna, his shadowy gaze cold and calculating.

"Gazna, do you want to sell out your fellow rebellion members? Your life will be spared; you'll be free to go." Bronwyn offered, his words echoing into the misty morning. A steady rainfall was starting to drizzle down onto them; a fitting scene for what was to come.

"I ain't telling you nothing!" Gazna snarled, bristling at the thought. "I already know I'm dead one way or another! If you're gonna kill me, just kill me. I don't owe you anythin'."

"Very well."

Bronwyn glanced over to Oakley and Zorban, before making a fist and dragging it in a horizontal motion in front of his throat. Lights out.

----

Over night, Euram and the others retreated hastily, leaving the camp behind them. They were now ostracized from the group, having to survive on their own and unable to gather any more recruits from the Kingdom.

Unfortunately for them, their misery would likely only just be beginning.

Traitors. In his own Clan.
Bronwyn almost couldn't believe it.

Horrified by how he had treated one of the traitors last month, several of his subjects rose up against him; including the prized children of Kerowyn and Qesha.

Qesha begged for Bronwyn not to punish them, to give them another chance. She begged him not to kill them.

He didn't listen.

Rebels and traitors are what killed his predecessors; the traitors had to go.

He was none too pleased that two of their five children turned out to be traitors, and Bronwyn's gaze would fall harsher on the survivors.

There was no room for rebellions and traitors in his Kingdom. He would filter out the weak and the sinister. He would find them, and he would dispose of them.

Journal - Rebellion

Their first month outside the camp was cold, cramped, and damp. The dragons lived in what was left of Tanglewood, the eerie atmosphere still making any non-Shadow dragons uncomfortable.

Euram was miserable, and cranky; but at least she was alive. And, just as importantly, Mahira was alive. Prized, prized Mahira.... Euram would gladly sacrifice her entire group if it meant saving Mahira, this was a promise.

For now they lied in wait. A random dragon joined them one day, happy to be there and unshakeable. Riana, was her name. She apparently crawled from the ocean and just. Found them, so they were stuck with her.

Ah well. There was nothing any of them could do.
