The Grand Adventures of Training Camp Carmine

Deep in the Starwood, there is a barracks. This is a very unusual barracks, because it does not contain any dragons. In fact, it is home to over 400 Opheodrys Serthis, the infamous Clan Balmoral Serthis Army.

But this story isn't about them.

About half a mile west of the Barracks lies a small camp. It's a bit shabby and dilapidated, but the dragons who call it home would be extremely insulted if you said anything of the sort. To them, it is nothing short of the starting point of their entire existance, the opening act of their epic opera, the inn at the start of their role-playing game where RNG is the dungeon master and everyone's a dragon.

This is Training Camp Carmine.

Training Camp Carmine, named for the red Serthis, is home to a bunch of dragons whose only desire is to reach the Great Library of the Arcanist with the most insane life-story they could possibly manage. Winner gets to tell it to Spacedad. The more drama, chaos and mishaps that happens in it, the better - what better way to bring glory to the God of "Oops There Goes The Universe Again"?

Follow the story begun by Colddemon and his troupe of merry troublemakers as they train, study, put up more tents for the new arrivals, knock down the tents of those who ran off to tell Spacedad their stories first, go on Quests for Great Treasure, find love, make friends (and enemies), and maybe smuggle a few unsuspecting children into the camp.

Whatever happens, it's sure to be chaos.

Rashad grew bored of life in the main lair, and decided that Adventures sounded far more fun! So now she's made the Camp her home... at least for now.

Rules and Processes

Each day, recruits are brought to the camp, trained to Level 6, and then have their luck tested. If a dragon is lucky (rolling a 6 on a d6), they have a much higher chance of getting a crazy story to tell Spacedad, and so they are allowed into the Camp proper. "Unlucky" dragons have to go to meet Spacedad without a fun story, sorry.

Once the day's new recruit has been found, the day's adventures can begin!

Camp Carmine Log, Day 1
Current Leader - Colddemon

For one so small, Enzo had definitely done his best to make an impression. He'd worked twice as hard as the rest of them to set up the tents, get the supplies in, dig trenches, find food and even found time to welcome in the newcomer, System. All he could hope was that Colddemon had noticed. Demonhammer was bad enough, going as far as setting up flares to get their leader to look in her direction, but Enzo just kept his head down and quietly set up his tent as close to the leader as possible. Whatever happened next, he was going to follow Colddemon, no matter where he went.
After all, who better to follow around to get a decent story to tell the Arcanist than the dragon who so firmly believed he was the main character?

"And is anyone going to explain to me why there is a baby in the middle of my training camp?" Colddemon demanded.
"I blame the newcomer," Demonhammer said, squinting suspiciously at the frost-coated Tundra who was sat by the campfire munching her way through every marshmallow Enzo could push at her.
"Oh come on," Cynforest sighed. "She's been here one day, I hardly think she could have made a nest with anyone in that time, let alone hatched it." She fixed Colddemon with a very firm glare. "If anything, that baby looks a lot like you. Is there something you're not telling us, oh great and esteemable leader?"
Colddemon opened his mouth to protest loudly, but then the little Imperial hatchling (already bigger than both Frostblast and Enzo) looked up at him and chirruped sweetly.
For a dragon so large and so blue to turn so pale was quite a feat. Colddemon managed it anyway.
"Ah," he said after a long moment of silence. "She... would appear to be my cousin."
"Perfect!" Demonhammer seemed to perk up immediately. "Keeping things in the family! Exactly how it should be. Now, she's obviously going to need someone to look after her so I'm volunteering as I'm clearly the closest to Colddemon - "
("What?" System mumbled to Grove, who shrugged. "I thought Leader didn't even know her name?")
"- so she'll stay in my tent with me."
Cynforest shook her head. "Um, Demonhammer?" she said. "I think she's picked someone herself."
Indeed, the blue hatchling was curling around a dragon already - one who looked most surprised to be treated thus.
"Well, guess we needed to use that tree for something," Colddemon said faintly. "We'll sort this out later."
System patted Grove on the shoulder companionably. "I'll help," he promised, as the blue Imperial buried her head in Grove's shaggy mane of green fur and fell asleep.

2.) I must inform you that I keep misreading Colddemon as Coldd-e-mon instead of cold-demon, completely seriously.

@Everburn I'm not sure what you might want out of a pinglist that you couldn't get from following the thread, but here's a ping for today's story entry where things went... differently. (and don't worry about misreading the names, I keep mentally stumbling over the double D as well!)

Camp Carmine Log, Day 3
Current leader - Colddemon

"We're going on an adventure, we're going on an adventure, we're going on an adventure..."
"It's not an adventure, Frostblast," Colddemon said, rather crossly. "It is an intense test of your mental and physical fortitude that I have designed specially to ensure only the best dragons pass."
Frostblast shook her head, mane flying. "But we're leaving the camp to go and do something awesome, that's automatically an adventure."
System, wandering past with a pile of supplies, poked his nose into the conversation. "Sounds like an adventure to me. And anyway, boss, you're doing it too, remember? Enzo won that bet with you so you have to do anything he does."
"No-one respects me in this camp," Colddemon muttered to Cynforest, who just smiled.
~
"Well."
"Um."
"That was... a thing."
Cynforest shook her head. "Well, at least most of us made it back in one piece, and with a few more stories to tell."
"I'm never going to get this mud out of my fur," System grumbled. "And Grove looks so much like a tree now that I nearly dragged home an actual tree instead of him!"
"Can we just all agree that Colddemon is never, ever allowed to set that test again?" Fallah complained. "Just because Frostblast and Demonhammer forgot to look both ways before crossing the stream, that's not a reason to fail them! Demonhammer was bigger than the stream anyway, and Frost's a Tundra, of course she forgot!"
"Well, they've gone now," Cynforest sighed. "Time to take their tents down, I suppose."
Enzo, perched on the top of his tent, looked rather pensieve. "Now who's going to eat all these marshmallows I ordered specially?" he wondered aloud.

(Event - Test of Spirit - All level 6s were tested. Demonhammer and Frostblast failed the test, and went to Spacedad with many, many stories of mud and chaos. Cynhammer, Grove, Enzo, System and Fallah all gained one level.)

Considering what had happened the day before, perhaps the timings could have been... less inauspicious. But there was very little anyone could do about it. After all, no-one had seen (or admitted to being) the dragon who had snuck into camp in the dead of night and left a prominent poster nailed to the kitchen tent.

"I'm going!"
"Me too!"
"I always wanted to go on adventures..."
The babble of voices roused Grove from his dreamy state of mostly-treelike thoughts. Honestly. The other dragons were always so fast. If they just took a moment to think about things every now and then, they would always manage to find the right answer. The fact that the answer he usually came to was "act a bit more like a tree" was beside the point.
Tree or not, the poster was clearly ridiculous. The others obviously hadn't read the small print. He wasn't even sure the big dragons like Colddemon and Cynforest were actually able to see writing that small, which was probably against several laws but hey.
The newest dragon in the camp, a quick-witted Pearlcatcher by the name of Cerbroaqu, was clearly the most eager to go on the trip. He hadn't had the chance to go on any of the previous journeys with the group, and was very enthusiastic about finally getting a chance to develop his own story a bit. It didn't take him long to persuade everyone else.
Everyone except one, to be exact.
Grove had the job of telling Jadus, more than half his length but still very much a baby, that she had to stay behind in the camp. She, of course, immediately burst into tears. Honestly, Grove thought. The instructions clearly said only adult dragons were allowed to go. Besides, she'd be fine on her own. There wasn't that much chaos a single baby Imperial could cause in one day, right?

Right?

(Event: The Grand Adventure. The d12 of courage declared that everyone got home safely, so everyone gained one level (except Jadus, the hatchling from the second day, who is still too young to go anywhere.) )

"It's good that we're growing," Cynforest said, looking at the floor of the supplies tent. "But we're running very low on supplies. I know Alnair is tiny, but he still needs to eat. What are we going to do?"
"Easy!" Fallah said. "We just go and get some from the Serthis Army Barracks, right?"
"... no," Cynforest said. "No, we absolutely do not do that."
Fallah's face fell. "Oh," she said. "That's what I did last time, though..."
Cynforest resisted the urge to whack her own head into the nearest tree. "They'll want payment for that, now, Fallah! Oh, this is a disaster."
"Not really," System offered. "Head to the Delta. If you and Fallah get them a new recruit or two, or just some training buddies, they'll forgive you I'm sure. And you'll probably find a bunch of food in the meantime anyway."
Cynforest looked at him gratefully. "Now why didn't I think of that? Come on, Fallah, let's see if you can fight as well as you talk..."
