This an untested rule set for a slow crawl up to level 25 combined with the slightest hint of nuzlocke.
The rules:
Every day there is a 1/(number of dragons in the locke) chance of acquiring a new fodder derg, or mayyybe a battle stone if a dragon is getting to a higher level
Every lost battle (all 3 faint) a dragon loses a life
Every dragon has 1 life to start, dropped apparel and fams are extra lives and get taken off the dragon if a life is lost
Zero lives means exalt
Start at the first stage
Advance a stage by winning a boss, leveling a derg above the venue, or getting a good drop: fam, apparel, gene, egg, chest, or battle item
Retreat a stage by losing a fight
Breed if there's a valid pair that's ready and I have an open nest that another pair doesn't have priority on
Win if a dragon reaches level 25 or a year old, gets to be stoned and statted and the dragon is either kept or sold depending on element and whether I like it
I'll be using prenamed dragons mostly.
I reserve the right to sell a dragon that has lost its last life instead of exalting, this will mostly be used in the case of really pretty dragons that might find a home elsewhere

Huh, this is an almost over balanced team, I've got one of each energy stone, meditate, scratch, and anticipate.
All ladies to level 3 and no special drops yet.
Got a health potion shortly after achieving level 4 so I got to move up to the woodland path. Still no out and out losses, but I think this is where I'll leave it for now.

Meilyr! An XXX Ice bab who is also a male which means breeding will be possible in the future, that's cool[emoji=ice rune size=1]
However, we also have the first total party kill which means one of the original 3 has a 1/5 chance of exalt.
Rng says it is Kaja who is in trouble, but scrapes through and gives the cockatrice who took them down a lesson to remember.

No new baby. The three ladies leveled to 6 and got a Basilisk familiar! I am awarding it to Mirth, because I like her colors best, which is totally a good reason to make a decision
