"What if we tip over? How can I hope to get off before it sinks?" asked Winona, turning to face the captain, who was completely unfazed by the bellowing of the wind.

The captain gave Winona a raised brow, "Don’t worry about it, or your sweat will be the cause of our sinking, and not the sea," she scoffed, "besides, this thing has carried the crew through rougher storms, I have no doubt it can carry you."

"Hm..." muttered the fae, today was her first day as a member of the Rabbit Raiders, and according to the captain, it could very well be her last. Being a pirate is, as expected, a dangerous thing to be.

She could only hope that perhaps, things would not be terrible.

...

Nothing is eternal, and the fates have only begun to play their games...

...

6: Crimes time! Pick two dragons at random. They have to go on a quest now. Raise both of them a level. Roll a 6-sided die for each. If it’s a 1, exalt them as they were lost in the mission.

A Ridgeback emerges from inside the deck, looking moderately annoyed at the Guardian following behind him.

"But Samaaaeeeeelll, Cappy said to go together!” whined Skooter, "Cappy! Samael says he want’s to go alone, and he won’t believe me when I tell him you assigned us both to go take stuff from that one kingdom!”

"Skooter is right, Samael, I chose to send you both, said Aegea, "Samael, if you’re unable to cooperate with your fellow partner in crime, then I may have to punt you off the boat."

A heavy sigh, and the Ridgeback simply nodded, before taking off alongside Skooter, who was now talking about how excited he was for another mission.

...

After a long day, Samael returned to the ship, now docked by the edge of a tall cliff that towered above.

"Glad to see you’re back," called out a Gaoler, who was loading some bags up, "How did everything-"

Skooter was nowhere in sight...

Story

DBR1.png

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE’S DEAD!?" Aegea snarled angrily, "THAT ‘KINGDOM’ HASN’T BEEN AROUND ANY LONGER THAN A MONTH! HOW COULD THEY HAVE KILLED HIM?! HE’S TRAINED FOR GODS’ SAKE!

Samael merely stood in silence, his head lowered, before too long, he let a response leave him, "They’re much stronger then they appear..."

The place they chose to raid was a place that did not appear to be heavily guarded, after all, it was night. The only ones there at the moment was a mere Crystalplate stinger, and one wasp surely couldn’t do harm, especially if it was alone.
Only it wasn’t.

The large, extremely gaudy statue that stood in the center of the room... it wasn’t a statue, but a dragon, a very good at staying still dragon.

There was no way it should have been able to kill either of them, but it had the element of surprise on it’s side, and it wasn’t long before two dragons, both quite large had emerged from the side rooms.

The mission was almost a failure...

"Skooter tossed me something he stole from one of the guards on the midst of a battle, told me to get out of there as soon as possible, I merely did as I was told, Miss Aegea." he said softly, and he reached for a burlap sack and pulled out a very obnoxious looking crown, "Aside from this, there are plenty of coins."

The captain closed her eyes for a few seconds, before beckoning for Samael to put the sack and it’s contents by her bedside, this was something to be taken in slowly, as they’d never lost a crew member before.

Tomorrow they’d have to find someone else to aid in their work, and simply hope they could survive...

Both survive. BONUS: I got an eye vial but there are no existing rules, so this is going to be a wildcard where I can roll another Phase 2. That comes Later. A small caravan lay completely demolished at the hillside, small tendrils of smoke curling in the air, and the ashes of wood still smoldering. Mary let out a noise of annoyance as Aegea and Samael returned from the nearby woods with a Mirror, restrained of course, in tow. "Alright little rat, what are some other routes you merchant folk use? Aegea hissed, her tail lashing angrily behind her, "We found an interesting object in the bag of some Fae you were with, an eye vial, that is." "Hey, look, I’m jus tryna make a decent living here ok?" pouted the Mirror, "There are no other routes, just this one, as far as I know." "A shame... Captain, he isn’t lying, if there were, we’d have seen them by now," Mary chimed in, "however, he doesn’t seem to be telling the whole truth." Aegea drew a blade from her sleeve. "Oh! Yeh, yeh! There’s this one dragon known for sneaking all kinds of crazy stuff into other flights,” the Mirror yelped, "Uh, he takes eggs too, but we aren’t so evil as to buy and sell babies on the black market, haha! At least not as a merchant guild so maybe you can ask some kinda individual or something, hehe! But not me! I would never do that! If anything I’m more partial to expensive cheese but that’s something you’d have to go to Plague for, heh! Y’know I’m not about to risk getting a disease though, ha- "Stop rambling or I remove your tongue." "Ok." "Where is this path, and what does this dragon look like?" "Oh yeh, I don’t know what they look like, but uhh, the path is out by some ruins, some kinda tsunami wiped away a big ol place by the Flats, FOOSH, all gone! They take a path right by there, uh, there’s this one Skydancer I know who can show you!” "Mary?" "Truth, he’s just a shaky one, and annoying at that," replied the Gaoler, with a snort, "what’s the name of this Skydancer?" "Yuve." ... After several hours of sailing, they’d arrived at a small shack by the sea, where they found this Yuve putting a knive through someone who, by the looks of it, tried breaking into her hut. After a few minutes, she eagerly agreed to show the Rabbit Raiders the pathway, but only after dawn, due to ghosts or something, which are never meant to be taken lightly, according to her. Whatever, anything to get her on board. ... Wildcard, roll a wnd Phase 2: 8: Kids can do crimes too. Grab the cheapest hatchie off the AH. Level it to 5 when it comes of age. In the midst of a sailing bout, Aegea couldn’t help but wonder if perhaps she should be doing something to commemorate the death of her former crew member, Skooter. She reached for the burlap bag containing the spoils of his death mission, only to be surprised by an angry shout, "EXCUSE ME!? I am trying to nap!" A tiny Guardian hatchling poked it’s head out, saw Aegea, and their angry expression turned into mild confusion immediately, "Hey, who the Hydrena are you?” "I- uh... I’m Aegea, and you are not supposed to be here..." "Ooh, nice, my mum had a similar name to that, shame she didn’t let me have one of those, a name, but that’s life innit?" "I suppose it is, I guess..." "Hey, if I sweep floors and whatnot, can I stay? You have real cozy set-up here," said the little dragon, "I promise I don’t get seasick! And if I do, I can clean that up too!" This tiny thing, with neither name nor worry of whether or not this dragon before her was safe to converse with, it had already won a place in Aegea’s ship, and heart. This may not have been a good idea however. Perhaps it was best to decline, and avoid any potential heartbreak. "I don’t see why not, feel free to stay young one," said the captain, already making a decision she would absolutely regret, "let’s go pick a name out for you." A huge mistake, or a meaningful opportunity of good? Whatever it was, this hatchling was suddenly very important to her, why? Perhaps one day we’ll know. 5: Crimes time! Pick two dragons at random. They have to go on a quest now. Raise both of them a level. Roll a 6-sided die for each. If it’s a 1, exalt them as they were lost in the mission.

Aegea hissed, her tail lashing angrily behind her, "We found an interesting object in the bag of some Fae you were with, an eye vial, that is."

"Hey, look, I’m jus tryna make a decent living here ok?" pouted the Mirror, "There are no other routes, just this one, as far as I know."

"A shame... Captain, he isn’t lying, if there were, we’d have seen them by now," Mary chimed in, "however, he doesn’t seem to be telling the whole truth."

Aegea drew a blade from her sleeve.

"Oh! Y’know I’m not about to risk getting a disease though, ha-

"Stop rambling or I remove your tongue."

"Ok."

"Where is this path, and what does this dragon look like?"

"Oh yeh, I don’t know what they look like, but uhh, the path is out by some ruins, some kinda tsunami wiped away a big ol place by the Flats, FOOSH, all gone! They take a path right by there, uh, there’s this one Skydancer I know who can show you!”

"Mary?"

"Truth, he’s just a shaky one, and annoying at that," replied the Gaoler, with a snort, "what’s the name of this Skydancer?"

"Yuve."

I am trying to nap!"

A tiny Guardian hatchling poked it’s head out, saw Aegea, and their angry expression turned into mild confusion immediately, "Hey, who the Hydrena are you?”

"I- uh... I’m Aegea, and you are not supposed to be here..."

"Ooh, nice, my mum had a similar name to that, shame she didn’t let me have one of those, a name, but that’s life innit?"

"I suppose it is, I guess..."

"Hey, if I sweep floors and whatnot, can I stay? You have real cozy set-up here," said the little dragon, "I promise I don’t get seasick! And if I do, I can clean that up too!"

This tiny thing, with neither name nor worry of whether or not this dragon before her was safe to converse with, it had already won a place in Aegea’s ship, and heart.

This may not have been a good idea however. Perhaps it was best to decline, and avoid any potential heartbreak.

"I don’t see why not, feel free to stay young one," said the captain, already making a decision she would absolutely regret, "let’s go pick a name out for you."

A huge mistake, or a meaningful opportunity of good?

Whatever it was, this hatchling was suddenly very important to her, why?

Perhaps one day we’ll know.
