@fenshae

Ah, the horror of being Wegged... You're still an amazing help for trying, and hey, any chance to get stained into this tricky little project is a good thing!

The range between my new boy and your fae actually isn't bad; he's Amber/Flaxen/Gold, which means the colour range is 15/6/1. Primary range is a bit wide, but since he's got perfect colours* it'd be hard to find a closer match colour wise. That said, if you have a boy that's not as close but has stained, I'd know for a fact I'd have a certain way to get stained into the breeding mix...

I think, if you already have a dragon who's got that spicy stained gene, go for them, but if not then the best choice is probably to try breeding her and my new boy. Since you've got light nests, and I'm looking for light eyes on the end dragon, it'd make sense to try and kill two birds with one fortuitous stone, assuming you'd be okay with taking the nest. If not, that's still cool, you've already been an amazing help just by giving me a way to get this project really going!

(*okay, gold isn't perfect perfect but gold stained and buttercup stained are so close in looks it's perfect enough for me)

@Ozprey Welp, the wegg has failed us (she's very pretty though!) But sure! I wouldn't mind hosting your dude at all. Send him on over, I promise not to let the death cultists in my lair get cozy with him.... Thinking outside the box, here... But yes! I'll go haul Sunspot out of my den for you. NOTE: She's related to Rafadel so their offspring would be unbreedable

@fenshae
Aw, that's a shame, but at least she's cute!

and I wouldn't worry about the death cultists, there's enough of those in my clan anyhow

Hm, yeah, white/white/pistachio is pretty far from what I'm looking for. That boy's pretty close, though I'm not sure if glimmer is less likely to show up than opal or not.

I'll send my boy over to you when he's ready to be bred, which he still isn't yet, whoops.

Update! @rhapsodicDream Today's update is a fairly small one. Pair one for dragon 10 have hatched another nest; It's just one boy, and his colours aren't really what I'm looking for, but despite this it seems this project refuses to give me a hatching that isn't good luck; he's managed to somehow end up with both spines (which has a 15% chance of showing up over ghost) and facet (which has a 1% chance of showing up over peregrine) ...I don't even know how small the chance of this is. I am shocked, astonished, and I feel terrible now because this very lucky boy will probably end up foddered by whoever buys him. Oh, also, I've updated the list of exalted, foddered and otherwise imperfect hatchlings so it's more accurate. Unfortunately, adding so many images seems to have caused the page to give up, so sometimes it shows all the images, and sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes it shows some of the images and not others. ...There's not much I can really do about that. Oh well. Oh, talking of space running out, I snatched a nice pair of dragons off the AH; Luck of lucks, I managed to find this pair of perfectly breedable dragons when I was looking for something close to dragon 8, who so far has utterly eluded me. I managed to find a nocturne scroll in a strange chest, so the breed doesn't matter for her anymore. The colour range on this pair is 5/4/4, with the colours I'm looking for all being represented here, even if the genes aren't. I can brew trail, and the other two genes aren't too expensive to buy. ...waiting a month for the wildclaw to be able to breed ain't ideal, but if I didn't want to have to wait months on end to get the wrong dragons, I wouldn't have started doing breeding projects. This isn't a task for the impatient.

Update! @rhapsodicDream Yet another small update; pair 1 for dragon 7 have had another nest. Yet again, nothing that useful, but this time Nothing That Useful includes the ugliest xxy I've ever hatched. Yay? The only one who got stained was 10 off the primary, 6 off the secondary, and 7 off the tertiary, and irritatingly, he was the ONLY one who didn't get butterfly, such is my luck... I'm not sure if he's worth keeping. He's closer than his dad on the primary, but other than that, he's not really any better, and I am starting to run out of space a bit (my penance for running like a billion projects all at once, I suppose.) The other three are almost certainly going to be foddered, though. Edit: OH! also, I completely forgot but I also bought this girl the other day to breed with that coatl with two perfect colours I saved from the second pair for dragon 7. Because he's a coatl, their kids are gonna be imps like 98% of the time, and she's got stained so we've got a good chance there of getting the right gene. Unfortunately, no butterfly, but good dragons for this project are few and far between. Colour wise, she's metals/metals/dust, so that's one perfect colour and two that are pretty close. The range is 4/19/36, which isn't too bad.

Awww, I think that that xxy isn't that bad! As for the other one...

How far are his parents? If he's not, on average, closer to target than his parents, it's not worth keeping him, imo. It's a tough world out there!

Well, I guess beauty's in the eye of the beholder. I just really don't like dark filigree myself.

His father's Stone(23 off)/Beige(perfect)/Ice(5 off), and his mother is Ivory(perfect)/Buttercup (21 off) /Sable (54 off)
(They can't actually get Dust for the tertiary, only up to Ice, but managing to even find a pair that could get those close was agony)

... actually, looking at it, he's quite a bit closer than them. I guess he just looks further because stone looks like it should be closer to ivory than Cantaloupe is.

Two good hatchings in a row? Look at this! Two out of three have copper! The first girl's primary is just ONE off of blue! Granted, her tert is at the wider end of the scale, but it's still only ten off, which is pretty darn good! The second is even better; four off, perfect again, and then one off! The third, he hasn't got copper, but he's 1 off/1 off/3 off, and he's male! That's the closest we've gotten so far! I'm on nest 4 of the project and I am but five colours and one gene off finishing it! Whaaa! ((Plus, that last boy has a repeating number for people who like that; -246464!)) There's only one single problem that comes with this update... I've kept so many dragons for breeding projects that I've pretty much run out of space. I mean, I'll have to keep these three because they're so close, but... I can't really do anything else until I can either scrounge up one million and 75 thousand treasure (the cost of the next lair expansion, for all the good 5 slots will do me) or throw all of my gems I was saving for other things into den expansions and just juggle dragons in and out constantly (which I'm already having to do to a reasonable extent)... Maybe running so many projects at once was a bad idea.

Update! @rhapsodicDream After managing to get more den slots and shuffling dragons around, since my work is never over, I sent pair 3.5 for dragon 11 off to an earth nest to see if I could get a perfect dragon with earth eyes so I don't have to breed my one almost perfect boy with another dragon. The result is a no. He's cute, but despite how close his parents are, the only good colour he picked up was the one he was forced to get. Both his parents have two perfect colours, so he's not worth keeping and finding a mate for when I'll get a better chance breeding them again, so I guess he'll just make for cute fodder for someone, and I'll try again next month. Pair 1 for dragon 4 have also had some hatchlings; As above, there's nothing useful here. Neither is any better than their father, so there's little point keeping them either. At least this time around I don't have to worry about juggling space to keep anything...

Also, my skydancer boy is finally ready to breed, if you'd still be alright with breeding him with your fae!
