Flight Rising Discussion

I am thinking about changing my flight after over a year in light. But for some time I was tempted to switch to lighting flight, as it's eyes and aesthetic suit me more. But before I do, I'd like to ask a few questions to make an informed decision.

1. What is the community like? I have not been the most active in the forums, but I would like to change that. Does the flight have its discord? What are the people like?

2. Dominance. I am interested in participating, and I would like to know what the flight's stance is on dominance. I would probably be rather casual in terms of pushing, but I would like to know if they are more competitive or not.

3. Feel free to add your own description/ stories about the flight. I will gladly read it, and it will help me immensely with making a decision.

hi! i'm R4, a dominance coordinator for Lightning - hopefully I can help answer your questions!

1) in my opinion, Lightning is a very friendly and close knit flight. we are always extremely happy to welcome new sparks, and our players tend to lean on the more technical or analytical side of things (we have lots of STEM majors, most of us love spreadsheets, etc etc) but with a good side of whimsy. Lightning players are more than happy to help you with anything and go out of their way to help people stay invested in the game. we have an in-flight discord as well as an out-of-flight one, and we have various programs with their own discords you can involve yourself in.

2) i consider us a medium active flight in dominance - we actively have a dom team (hi!) and plan several pushes per year in advance. we had a battle with Wind about 1-2 years ago, and we generally conquest atleast twice a year. profit pushes fill in the remaining space, as we love our profit pushes. we have a lot of programs to facilitate Dominance and have a mentor program (headed by me - hi again!) and will do everything to help you get started in Dom. we believe that every single level counts and even just one dragon exalted is more than enough! we have lots of events, badges, raffles for every push, all that good stuff.

3) ive been in lightning for many years - i took a vacation to arcane but then i literally had a dream where i changed back to lightning so i changed back and havent looked back since LOL. i love this flight and feel its like family to me. if you love robots, tech, anything scientific or mathematical, spreadsheets, our general vibe of deserts and thunder and electricity, and if you feel like working in an office cubicle for our beloved bossdad, then you'll probably love it here. we are very efficient but friendly and warm people, in my opinion!

1. i'm in the main IF discord @/ReactorFour mentioned and it's very active. the admins/mods/dom team are all active and friendly, helpful people! we have a lot of lurkers but also a bunch of players who pop in frequently including myself, and generally the main channels are used daily. on-site i've had a similarly pleasant experience in the last 6 years and have only been in the discord since about mid this year, not sure when it was created

2. seconding what r4 said; plenty people do go hard but there are lots of casual players and we don't have terribly much trouble pushing usually. i'm semi-casual with dom and i think it's a suitable flight choice for that

3. i actually started off in arcane, i love their flight aesthetics and still do but not long after starting to play i went on a 2 year solid hiatus. when i came back i switched to lightning because i prefer the look (deserts, thunderstorms, technology etc.) over arcane's now, my favorite pokemon type is electric, i love storms... a lot of reasons! haven't regretted it
