So uh, how come half the time I open a chest there’s a living being inside it?
I know this applies to all chests, but it feels weirder in this case ‘cause it feels like these chests specifically were very deliberately packed by other dragons to be given out as rewards.
Perhaps they were in an egg and hatched? Or perhaps, in order to get them you need to wake them up from their slumber first.

i'd say Bag of Holding technology, but then you'd have to get to them within ten minutes.

it's funny, because beastclans can get these chests too, if they win a battle..... I don't know how they keep peace? If I found my sibling trapped in a chest I won from a battle I would be ******, and would start a war.

maybe its like a hat trick? you put your hand in and pull out a sick new familiar!

I remember reading somewhere that when you put familiars in Baldwin's brew, you don't actually toss the familiar in, you toss in just a part of it- like a feather or a small clump of fur.
So what if, instead of the familiar being in the chest, it's some kind of magical communication device so you can call them to come there or directions to where the familiar is so you go find them, and that's how they come to join you.
