With how the most recent event ended, I think we have more clarity on what happened to the Tidelord. This is what was said from the Dustcarve Dig event when It finished.
"It was evident shortly thereafter that they were not statues at all, but a new breed of dragon—the Obelisk—created recently by the Earthshaker to help both the dragons of Dragonhome and the world over defend themselves from the threat rising from deep below."
Besides the Earthshaker, the only beings whose territory goes deeper into the world of Sorneith would be the Flamecaller, and the Tide Lord. This Threat is coming form deep below, which would make these three the first target. Tide Lord would most likely have been targeted by this threat first because he can foretell the future and warn Sorneith through members of his flight.
That's why Tide Lord disappeared. Now what else has happened? The Banescales have returned. This is probably the Flamecaller realizing the same threat that the Earth Shacker if after. Instead of creating a new dragon breed to defend against this threat, she brought back her Banescales who were her warriors.
Now what do think? Do you all have anything to add to this theory, this wondering on what happened to the Tide Lord no longer appears to be a concern for the water flight to figure out. This could affect all of Sorneith's future.

:O this is a good theory.. As for underground, shadow flight canonically has subterranean cave systems, and nature flight probably has lots of behemoth roots underground.

We…. We’re just gonna ignore the entire dragon city that no one has ever seen because we found terracotta dragons further in? You know, the ones confirmed to have just been made and therefore didn’t or couldn’t have been using the city before?

Also they completely ignored those remains of ancient beastclan creatures, and also they still don't know the nature of those shining green crystals..
There was and still is so many questions about all that stuff..

Are so-called "Returned" those suspicious skeletal remains, who miiight be real culprit of missing dragons? If it's true, does that mean Obelisks can also sense Emperors?

Perhaps it was a case of dig first ask questions later. Then again, this forum is basically made to ask those questions now.

this is a really good theory. This may also explain why a raging river was redirected into the dig, as perhaps tidelord was trying to defend himself against something?
Also, what ever this new thing is thats rising from the deep, I hope its a new breed that i can fill my lair with hugyiftudr6x7
