So, I just started playing not too long ago and had gotten a Harvest Hardshell. I put it in my vault and went to go equip it on my dragons but it doesn't up, I tried clicking remove familiar just in case there was some way there was something attached but no luck. Its a heart on the top left does that mean something?

If things are in your vault that means they are save from doing anything with them in the game. You need to put it back in your hoard.

@SeaHours The vault is used to store things you want to keep safe. If you want to use your familiar you'll have to move it back to your hoard first.
