So i'm new to the game, been playing perhaps a week or so, and the first time i gathered bugs went relatively well. however for a few days now it just hasn't been gathering ANY insects, sitting at 0 despite me using all my gathers on insect gathering, and now my Fae are starving because of this :(

This sounds like a typical newbie mistake rather than a bug. Could it be that you forget to convert the food items in your hoard to foodpoints?
