hi! when you're a high enough level on baldwin's bubbling brew, you can craft various things with the items you converted into materials. you can also sell the items for treasure or gems.

Trinkets and Materials (the scavenging/digging items) are used for Swipp trades (like you mentioned) and Baldwin recipes (the alchemist). Baldwin can either melt them down into ooze or sludge to use in other recipes or there could be a recipe that needs the item as is. Slime can be used to make other items at Baldwin's.
