Aspen was given to me as a tip for handing out food points O.o this was back when crystals were still worth a bit, definietly more than what I was giving out, and he caters to the former naturling in me. I'm eternally grateful and will love him forever.

Leopold was given to me because I chose him in the "Prettiest dragon above you" thread.

Heatstrike was given to me on my first day on this site and she was the first dragon I ever got (besides my progens, of course). I really, really love her, and although I liked her original looks (clown and seraph), I thought she deserved a change and gave her bar and current, which looks even better imo. She also got a change in apparel recently. The only thing that's still the same is her good ol' fez. Because fezzes are cool. Also, she was already pre-named Heatstrike by her previous owner, but I love that name so much, and it fits so perfectly with her mate's name Hailstorm, that I never changed it.

I got him when I was playing the "Steal a Dragon" game in my flight's forums. I picked him because I really do like how he looks, with the three different shades of grey, and he was offered to me for free! Turns out the person was having trouble selling him, but now he has a home c: I have plans for him; he's never leaving my sight.

My memory tends to go down the drain when I'm stressed, so I don't always remember where some dragons in my lair came from, and I don't want to make too long of a post so I'm only sharing a handful, but anyway, I know this one was sent to me by a kind fellow user:

(in fact, she came to me with a sweet little bio that fits the general mood of my clan so well! Reading it made me smile, and I knew she would fit right in with everyone else, so the only thing I changed was to add a note at the end about her current familiar)

Came to me with a name that, of all things, pertains to my interest in bog mummies. I believe she was one of two who came to me from a friend when I was brand new...

Was a random-dragons-for-people-who-are-stressed/sad gift who just happens to be in a couple of my fave colors. (I've had a few from kind people who just want to brighten the days of people going through hard times, and it always feels really nice, when even when a lot of things feel like they're going really badly and have been for a long time, I can know there are total strangers out there who care about making people feel better.)

Oh my gosh, I know I was going to try to limit myself, but all three of these gorgeous babies came to me from a friend, and she's just an incredibly generous person all around. And she just gives away some of the most beautiful dragons sometimes, because she's lovely like that and enjoys spreading them around to good homes in faraway lairs.
I've really enjoyed developing backstory and personalities for gift dragons, though I don't have their pages all filled out as completely as they could be, but it's so fun to think about what each one's journey was like-- for example, some have quick, painless flights and happen to wind up at a good place to settle down, but one was turned away from a few stops in between, and another got into an accident on her search for a clan to join... some consider themselves emissaries from their own lands, others don't remember their birth flights/clans because they started journeying at a young age... It just adds another layer of story to come up with.
