Well I was reading the Hobbit, got halfway through and had to put it down for school. The semester started up again and it got busy but my mum just brought home a book called "Asexuality, A brief introduction" and I've put off my homework to read it. Shhh....don't tell my teachers XD

@Cor: Is The Princess Bride good? I love the movie, and I thought it was great that there's a book. I'd love to read it and might put 'Read The Princess Bride' on my bucket list. Just don't give any spoilers if you reply to my post. :P

And how exactly is the translation pretentious? And if you don't like it, why don't you get a different translation that's less pretentious? Or is Inferno one of those things that can't be translated non-pretentiously?

My Neighbor Totoro, the novel. ^-^ It was calling to me at the bookstore. I'm also reading through all the stores from the original Grimm tales. And when I finish those, I will be starting on a book about Tesla.

@MythGriffin24: It was really good! (I've finished it now.) It was a lot more cynical than the movie, especially the ending and the introduction, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

I did eventually swap out for a less pretentious translation/annotation. It was more the annotations than the translation that were pretentious. It was just a lot of "oh obviously anyone reading this will be fluent in latin ho ho ho *drinks tea and swirls mustache*". It was the sort of pretension that academic writing is full of although it's sort of difficult to describe? After a long time of reading academic texts you just start to be able to tell that the authors don't care about sharing information/art and are honestly just showing off how much smarter they are than everyone else. That kind of attitude really sucks the fun out of reading anything, even if it's set in Hell.
