where does everyone post images to where they can put them in forums? i've tried to link images I've posted on things like discord, sta.sh, and toyhou.se and use the image addresses on forums but they never work??

Discord, DeviantArt, and
sta.sh are not image hosts, and deliberately prevent hotlinking images offsite.
You should be able to use
toyhou.se as a host—can you post an example of what you're trying to use? You can show us the code you're using by putting it between two code tags ([.code]CODE HERE[./code], remove the periods).

postimages for my image hosting for my hatchery/fandragons and it works fine
but yeah a few years ago discord decided to no longer host images outside of discord itself
i've seen a few people spreading the rumor around that if you post the image in another server on discord and you can then post the image here/elsewhere without the link not working. which is untrue because the image links are on a timer and will stop working after a while regardless of generating a new link

Make sure that you're using the right URL—to use image tags, the URL needs to end in an image file type (e.g. .png, .gif, .jpg, etc.). It could be that other times you tried to post images, you were using the webpage URL or there were some additional characters after the file type!

in the case of toyhouse, i believe if you've edited/updated an image...? the image url might be updated to have a string of letters/numbers after the image extension like this, and won't be compatible with FR's image bbcode, like what seacrest said!

as for discord, you can post a broken discord image link into a discord server/message to recover and see it again, but it still won't work as a proper image host!

I use imgur, here's how (i needed a LOT of help to figure this out):
Log on to imgur, click "post" in the corner.
Drag an image from another window and drop it.
After it's uploaded, I click on my profile, go to "my images"
Click on the image you want to upload.
Click "copy" next to the BBcode link.
Go to the FR post, and paste your BBcode link
click preview and see how it works
That's it :)
