Time seems to be crumbling. It's only been a few hours, but the tributes feel as though almost a month has passed. As the sun drags itself out of the sky, Discovery collapses beneath a tree, utterly exhausted from walking all day. He begins to close his eyes, but Pterois' grunting disrupts his moment. She collapses too, a short distance away, without noticing Discovery. Both too exhausted from their days activity to really do anything, they simply acknowledge each other and exchange some small talk about how they've been going with the games and how they feel about fighting the other tributes. They eventually run out of energy to talk and enjoy each other's company in silence. Osiris tries to stay awake all night, but gets anxious when she begins to feel frost crunch beneath her claws. She bumps into Asmodeia and they agree to huddle for warmth for the night. Elsewhere, Azoun is all alone. She squeezes herself into a tree log for shelter, but this rubs decaying wood into the wounds she sustained from her fight today, so she crawls back out and rummages through the backpack for anything resembling disinfectant. She finds ample medical supplies with which she cleans her wounds, dresses, and then squeezes back into the log.

The sun rises again. Discovery still aches, but suspects that Pterois will take advantage of his weakness soon, so he leaves before she wakes. He treks deeper into the forest, to an area he'd never been to before, stopping to listen to birdsong in the trees. These birds live their lives in the arena so peacefully, while Discovery and the other tributes are only here to fight to the death. He laments how unfair this all is. Azoun watches him mutter to himself from the bushes. He's lost deep in thought, which she takes advantage of to sneak up and finally eliminate him from the games. However, she foolishly kicks a rock, the sound of which rudely snaps Discovery back to reality. Reacting quickly, he roars and body slams Azoun, grappling the sword from her claws. She wiggles free from his grasp, leaving Discovery to topple over behind her. In the process, he acidentally pulls open a gash he sustained from their earlier scuffle, He tries to hold the wound closed, but looking down at his claws soaked in his own blood, he realises there really isn't any hope of healing. He has nothing left to lose, and wearily raises to his feet to taunt Azoun with her own sword. She sees that she's bitten off a little more than she can chew, and retreats. Discovery considers giving chase, but he really isn't in the right shape for that, and instead wanders off in a different direction, praying to the Eleven that the remaining tributes can kill each other before bloodloss kills him. Elsewhere, Osiris and Asmodeia discuss the prospects of an alliance. This late in the games, they'd be unstoppable, but would have to turn on each other pretty soon. Out of nowhere, a sponsor carrying fresh food lands in the ferns next to them, addressed to Asmodeia. They both excitedly open the canister and share the food. With the food is a note claiming that Osiris is plotting to kill Asmodeia in her sleep. Osiris adamantly denies this, but especially this deep into the games, Asmodeia she can't trust anyone. In this moment, she remembers where she truly is and what is imminent. Asmodeia thanks Osiris for her kindness, bundles up her belongs, and leaves. Orisis disappointedly watches her disappear into the wilderness. A few minutes later, she decides to chase after Asmodeia and beg her to trust her and give the alliance a second chance. She hears rustling in the undergrowth and runs towards it, believing it is Asmodeia. As she approaches the rustling flees and Osiris gives chase. She realises much too late that the rustling was just Pterois, fearing for her life.

Pertois runs for her life. Someone is persuing her, and is closing in. Surprisingly, her persuer starts shouting at her to slow down and that she won't be hurt. Exhausted, Pterois doesn't really have a choice. Osiris catches up to her and proposes an alliance. They work together to take out the other tributes, and then either threaten the Gamemakers with a double suicide, or honourably fight to the death. Low on options, Pterois considers the offer. She doesn't feel too keen on having any sort of interpersonal relationships in the Endgame, provided she makes it, but she does like the idea of having a buddy to help her in the moment. She accepts. They work together to build a shelter and a campfire. If the previous night was anything to go by, these final days are just going to get colder and colder. They warm themselves by the fire deep into the night, awkwardly trying to make small talk without revealing too much personal information and getting attached to each other. Asmodeia, still in the same area, can see their fire through the trees and recognises Osiris' voice. She makes the paranoid assumption that this is a trap set up just for her, and so keeps her distance. Later in the night, Azoun finds their fire too. She approaches to investigate, contemplating killingthem both in their sleep but notices that Pterois is still awake and keeping watch, so she decides not to. Meanwhile, cold and alone, Discovery heaves his last breaths in pool of his own blood. He's disappointed that this is his final fate, he would've much rathered a more climactic death. Though, he is still very proud to have made it this far, and hopes that his District smiles on his valiant efforts. He looks up at the stars and closes his eyes, one last time.

In the early light of dawn, Asmodeia gathers berries while patroling the surroundings of Osiris and Pterois' camp, hoping that they might seperate long enough for her to pick one of them off. She stalks them from a distance. Osiris is keeping watch over the camp while Pterois sleeps. When she finally wakes, Asmodeia thinks they might split up. They do not. Instead, they walk together to forage some breakfast. They discuss how they will confront the other two tributes and what will happen when it's just them left, and Osiris jokingly suggests that Pterois should kill her now and call it a day. Pterois laughs along and turns down the offer. She values honour too much and promises not to touch her until they make it to the finals. After waiting hours and hours, Asmodeia eventually ends up catching Azoun on her own. She attacks her and they wrestling quietly, both trying not to draw Osiris or Pterois' attention. Without her sword, Azoun is at a disadvantage and Asmodeia ends up pinning her to the ground. Azoun frantically tries to reason with her. She suggests that she let her live and they can both take out the other two, narrow down the remaining tributes to just them, and then they can have a fair one on one fight to end the Games. Asmodeia stops and considers this proposition. On one hand, she could- oh wait Azoun just used Asmodeia's pause to kick her in the throat, turn the tables and strangle her to death. Once she's sure she's finally dead, Azoun contentedly stands over her body and turns her sights on the camp of the last two dragons standing in the way of her victory...

Oh boy, the final three, Azoun has so many kills too compared to the other two.
Still so surprised my girl Osiris made it this far, will be interesting to see how it plays out!

The sun dips below the horizon, and the last night begins. Osiris and Pterois realise they only have Azoun to kill before it's just them. She may be the most ruthless fighter and have the highest body count of the three, but the two of them outnumber her and could take her down fairly easily if they work together. But then what? Could they turn on each other? Pterois is particularly torn, as that was her original plan, to kill Osiris and take the win for herself. But just as she feared, she has grown an attachment. That works out in Osiris' favour, however, because she wanted to try bending the Gamemakers' rules by threatening a double suicide, and if that didn't work out, forcing Pterois to kill herself while she claims victory. Of course, she would never tell Pterois about this. She decides to prepare their grand finale early, by secretively collecting enough poisonous berries to kill them both. On the edge of their camp, Azoun is getting figdety. She's so close. Only two more dragons stand in her way, and then she can win, but these two dragon have somehow formed an alliance in the endgame. This is unfair. Without her sword, there would be no way she could take both of them on at once. Azoun could retrace her steps and track down where Discovery had run off and died, but she can't even guarantee the sword will still be there, or that it would be enough to take down the last two tributes. Of course, another option would be to run back to the Cornucopia and check if anything of use has been left behind, but there's also no guarantee that she'll find anything there either. Azoun ponders for a moment before leaving to try her luck with the Cornucopia. She arrives at the edge of the clearing where it all began, and can spy what looks like supplies in and around the central structure. However, the whole clearing is dotted with landmines. The circular gaps in the overgrown grass give away their locations. Azoun makes an attempt at crossing the boobytrapped clearing, but gives up quickly when she concludes that the Gamemaker's have most likely stuffed the Cornucopia with empty, decoy boxes in order to trick one them into stepping on a landmine. Instead of risking her life foolishly, Azoun risks her life more productively by trying to disarm and relocate one of the landmines. She succeeds. She delicately hoists the explosive onto her shoulder and shuffles it back to Osiris and Pterois' camp, hoping they haven't moved. She arrives to find the camp deserted. Osiris and Pterois have already left to hunt down Azoun. She sees that they've left the campfire built in anticipation of spending another night here, indicating that they will return soon. She gently sets down the landmine, pushes aside some of the wood, and nestles the bomb in their fire pit, before rearming it. Meanwhile, Osiris and Pterois becoming increasingly paranoid about why they can't find Azoun. Has she set a trap? Is she waiting behind every tree? Is she playing the long game, and has gone off to hide somewhere until they tear each other apart? It gets too dark to continue, and they head back to camp. It's quiet. And something seems off. Osiris approaches the campfire cautiously and spots the glimmer of someone's eyes inside their shelter when she leans down to light it. She shrieks and leaps back, alerting Pterois to Azoun's presence, and the three of them confront each other at last. Azoun steps out of the shelter, Osiris and Pterois back away, putting the unlit campfire between them. They try to coax Azoun out into the open so they can have a better shot at fighting her, but she won't budge. Instead, she taunts them relentlessly. Osiris and Pterois hold their ground. They can't let her words get to them, they need her to enter the open. They're too afraid to try and get around her and force her out of their camp, so all they can do is stay where they are. Eventually, Azoun, says something that severely strikes a nerve with Pterois, who reacts with an outburst of rage. She leaps forward to attack Azoun, stomps on the campfire as she charges, detonating the landmine and blowing herself to smithereens. Both Osiris and Azoun are far too close for comfort and are thrown back by the explosion, both are maimed. Azoun gasps for air and crawls away, she seriously did not think through where she should position herself for that, but she didn't even expect Pterois to actually step on it. She expected one of them to light the fire and detonate the mine. But hey, it had the intended effect. With Pterois gone, all that's left is Osiris. Azoun lifts her head to see where she is. Osiris is in much worse condition, but still breathing. Azoun watches as the silhouette of her fellow finalist shakily reaches down into her pocket, pulls out a handful of poisonous berries, eats them, and prceeds to choke and sputter as the poison takes hold of her body. Azoun lays back down and breaths a sigh of relief. She has won the Hunger Games.

Congratulations, @AmethystGrove! Azoun has stuck it out for six months and has gloriously won the 2024 June Hunger Games! Unfortunely, due to my own mistakes, the original prize pool for these games is seal away forever. As consolation, I award you 1230g! I hope that it okay.
And @Cryogonal, congratulations on Osiris taking home second place! You should be very proud. Normally there's no prize for second place, but because you've been so meticulously documenting Osiris' journey, and because you're the only one who is still enthuasitically engaging with this, you also win a prize of 70kt!
Thank you everyone for your participation and patience! I have loved reading everyone's commentary throughout the games. I promise the next Hunger Games will not take as long as this one did, I have no idea how this dragged on for so long, this has never really happened before.
Speaking of the next games, I will be post-poning the 2024 December Games to January 2025 so I can have a break from having to think about this. The prize pool will be coming back in full swing, too.
So whip your next pair of tributes into shape, and I'll see you next month!
