OOC|IC

The theater… a place of wonder for many who desire to set foot within a fantasy world. While one would normally associate this place with wonder and fond memories of watching stories unfold, this was not the case for one group of individuals.

This group of people had woken up in a facility known only as… the Theater without any memory of how they got there as well as being met with their abilities having been greatly limited. However, despite that, several of them still went off to explore the facility which was when… they realized that they weren’t alone… Also within the facility were humanoid entities known only as the Marionettes. This was realized by them when they encountered one in a room and managed to narrowly escape from it.

However, soon enough, after encountering an old journal, the survivors soon noticed that the Marionettes were just like them once… survivors who had been brought to the theater before… ending up trapped within the facility as the entities that they saw beforehand. It was then that they also learned that SOMETHING else was lurking within the Theater which had the intent to keep them there… forever.

They had only one thing to do to avoid being trapped here for all eternity… uncover the secrets of the Theater and
ESCAPE! Will they succeed?

Or will they be trapped within the facility like those who came before them.

They retain a sense of who they once were before becoming unfortunate enough to join the collection (many of them have completely forgotten their original worlds, the promises they made to one another, and a large majority of them know nothing except for their name) however, most of them aren’t too difficult to deal with. Regardless of their type, marionettes can be identified by some stitches on their bodies as well as strings that were seemingly sewn into their wrists and ankles. The basic Marionettes also have the joints of a doll as well which we found kind of… odd given how those who went missing were mostly of flesh and blood. What we found somewhat scarier was their apparent lack of blood. Maybe that’s why there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of blood around the place. Marionette Types

(The following is an excerpt from a previous adventurer’s journal. Apparently, it had been recovered after a marionette which had safeguarded it chose to flee.)
  • Basic - The basic Marionettes. They retain a sense of who they once were before becoming unfortunate enough to join the collection (many of them have completely forgotten their original worlds, the promises they made to one another, and a large majority of them know nothing except for their name) however, most of them aren’t too difficult to deal with. Encountering a Puppet always ends in a game of chance since it is unknown whether they might be hostile or not. Approach them with caution.
  • Swordsman - HIGHLY AGGRESSIVE! Swordsman Marionettes are honestly one of the scariest ones that we could possibly encounter aside from the mimics and… HIM. They are known to relentlessly pursue any individual that they find and are identified by blood red stitches which are typically present on the arms. They also carry around some sort of bladed weapon. Some are found with bloody splotches on their arms which seem to be… from past victims?

RULES

1. Flight Rising rules and Roleplay etiquette apply in this thread. Follow them!

2. Nothing worse than hell is allowed however if your character does have a potty mouth (looking at you FFVII Cid), censor the bad words. And yes, fandom swears are allowed.

3. Any character from any fandom other than DBZ (Need I say it? The powerscalers are annnoying to deal with) and NSFW fandoms are allowed for reasons that I do not feel like explaining.

4. AUs are allowed however, keep the number of variants per character at 3. Seriously, we don’t need a thousand Sanses running around.

5. For the love of everything holy in this world, keep this thread PG-13. I don’t need the mods taking down this thread. (And yes, this also means keep character outfits PG-13 as well)

6. There is no character limit!

7. OCs and canon characters are allowed

8. No Overpowered characters. All original abilities of the survivors and Marionettes within the Theater have been limited. This is set as a means to hopefully keep things fair and add more to the horror aspect of the thread.

8. No homophobia, racism, sexism, etc.

10. No Godmodding, Metagaming etc.

11. Please do not submit any characters that are real people (WHAT FALLS UNDER THE CATEGORY OF REAL PEOPLE: IRL Celebrities, YouTubers, TikTokers, etc)

Random question, but is it possible for a character to fight back against a marionette?

It is possible and in fact, it’s the other option you can choose when you encounter a Swordsman.

I have a character I’d like to enter, but I’m not sure if they’d be considered canon or an OC. They are in canon, you can play as them, but they don’t really have lore information (a personality, a background, etc. they’re very general, almost like a blank slate) so I’ve just made up things about them and would play them according to my own thoughts of how they’d work. Which category would they fall into?
