that's probably the point ngl - some of the ancient breeds have snippets of what went on to become moderns in them (gaolers → tundras, banescales → coatls are good examples off the top of my head)
i do agree that some of the parallel ancient genes dont really fit them (why angler??? but not scales or scorpion or shardflank???) - i really dislike when they get a lot of parallel genes that make no sense
