I don't know why, but this gave me an idea for a (NotN?) familiar: Jittery Coffee Pot -- have a coffee pot that's just straight up vibrating.
Combine it with some coffee/teacup apparel, a scarf, and spiral or saucer stare, and you've got a grad student!
