TOPIC | Auraboa Gene Error Thread
This thread is to track any gene errors that occur with the new Auraboa Breed. This thread is for this breed only.

Many genes have accommodations for dragon anatomy where one breed is every so slightly different than others because it worked better for them. These are not considered errors.

Please report any errors you encounter and we will do our best to correct them in a timely manner.

Sadly, the multi gaze and line breaking tertiary issue is a technical limitation. Eyes must always layer over the primary, secondary, and tertiary genes, and they are not contextually aware of what is below them and able to alter their shape to accommodate. This is a limitation with all of our dragons that have line breaking tertiaries.

Note that it may take a short while for the site's internal image cache to reflect the corrected image assets.

Corrected Issues
 • Eye: Common, Uncommon, Unusual, Rare, Pastel, Bright, Multi-gaze (head eye) were missing line art around the edge of the iris. A very thin line was added to finish the eyes without causing major changes. The eye colors and gradients were not changed. Fixed.
 • Eye: Primal (Arcane)on all Auraboa had clipping issues and a blown-out runic glow corrected.
 • Eye: Primal (Nature) on Auraboa H was missing the larger hatchling flower. Fixed.
 • Eyes: Primal (Shadow) had the back eye drip added for all Auraboa.
 • Eye: Glowing had the glow radius and intensity adjusted to be more in line with the rest of the glowing eyes.
 • Primary: Boulder on all Auraboa and the swirls altered to be more consistent with the gene on other breeds.
 • Primary: Caterpillar on Auraboa M and H had the missing accent spots corrected.

Known Issues

Investigating (Not sure if issue or not)

Working as intended
 • Auraboa M having a semi-transparent black pixel in between the wing and the wing hand is an anti-aliasing issue with shrinking the files down from 1500x1500 to 350x350. We consider this defect to be minor and will not be changing it, as the solution would be to adjust the fingers to not be as close to the wing, which would affect all genes and player-made skins.
 • Auraboa Wing-Hands being the secondary color is intended.
 • Lapis as a color having yellow accents is intended.
 • Primary: Mosaic in lemon having a blue outline is consistent with the color choices used on modern and ancient versions of the gene on other breeds.
 • Primary: Tapir in white has incredibly faint markings. This is consistent with the modern version of the gene.
 • Primary: Varnish in having colors that vary and are sometimes muted is intended. The color palette was created by the artist who designed the gene and is intentional.
 • Secondary: Jester is intended to have different eyebrow colors for M & F dragons. This is because Harlequin has different facial patterns for each adult and is considered a feature of the gene. The eyebrows match up with the corresponding facial pattern of the primary.
 • Secondary: Rattlesnake not having patterning in the upper portion of the wings is intended.
 • Tertiary Genes not lining up with primary or secondary patterns is not considered an error.
 • Tertiary: Crest is intended to have an accented patch in a different color. This is consistent with Crest on Sandsurge.
 • Tertiary: Sailfin is intended to have consistent coloring and highlighting with the Undertide version of the gene. Some colors' highlights are more intense than others.
 • Primary & Secondary Genes that have patterning along the transparent transition from wing to body color will have transparent pattern present in both parts. If the dragon has an unmatched pair of primary and secondary genes, the patterns will overlap.
 • Tertiary: Crystalline Tertiary chrystalline having a cool-tone tinted overlay that interacts with the tertiary color. This is considered intended.
 • Auraboa F Wing The F Auraboa pose's wing on the right side of the image folds over slightly. Viewing the gene with "basic" selected as the secondary will show what is considered the top and bottom portion of the feathers. Part of the overlap is the bottom portion of the feathers. Thus patterning that belongs on the bottom portion of the feathers will go in this area, while patterns that belong in the top portion of the feathers start further up.
 • Auraboa Horns The horns of Auraboa are part of the face and were intentionally not given a separate color on the base template. This decision was made because we felt that it made the face read best against the two layers of head feathers behind it.
 • Tertiary: Branches not covering the horns is intended. Horn coverage for branches will vary from breed to breed, as horn shape, canvas availability, and aesthetic choices vary from breed to breed with this gene.
 • Tertiary: Topcoat is intended to affect the top of the dragon. In terms of the wings, the top of the dragon's wings is considered the back side of them. The F pose has wings that curve around, so more of their topcoat is visible, while M pose has the interior of the right wing visible.
 • Primary: Fade on all Auraboa not having the accent color be a large area of coverage at the base of the tail is intentional. This is because there is no clean base to the tail as the body flows into it with no break. The colors present are considered working as intended.
 • Secondary: Current not being present on the full crest is considered working as intended.
 • Python/Morph's edge thickness is considered within acceptable line variance of the gene.
 • Secondary: Breakup on Auraboa having lines in the upper portion of the wings was reported as an error and was briefly listed as one. However, upon further review we found that it remains consistent with the Skydancer treatment of the wings and we will not be making changes to these stripes (barring technical errors.)

I will be deleting reports that have been corrected, are not considered an issue, or are duplicate reports as I encounter/investigate them to keep the thread current!
Not an art error, but the Auraboa encyclopedia page doesn't have a list of their genes yet.
I'm sorry that it's not available at the moment. An Auraboa gene guide is something that we're definitely looking at for the future in addition to an Aether and Undertide gene guide. And of course updating all of the existing gene guides with some of our newer additions! There's a lot to do!
