God of psyche

The psyche of a conscious and self aware being is one of the most complex subjects you could think about. To this day scientists struggle to understand how it works and how it develops itself, with several theories, but none being a fact.

Koi represents that incomprehensible concept. The conscious intelligence, the psyche, the powers that are connected to the energy of the mind itself, and therefore the arcane powers that come within. Arcane is magic in it's purest form, coming from the creation of the most sharpest of minds.

When this strange god was created, an overwhelming feeling was the first thing that hit him. Being connected to the psyche isn't one of the easiest things to do, and anxiety became Koi's main feeling... That is, before he met Khui.

He couldn't help but love them more than anything in this world.
koi.png
"I'm here for Khui and Khui alone."

Koi despises mortals, the reason being he understands them better than any other god. Of course, not ALL of them are bad... But the good ones aren't enough to make Koi stick to any realm whatsoever.

Being the youngest amongst the other gods, Koi wasn't easily accepted because of the lack of understanding they had of him. The psyche also implied he had some control over their minds, which to a point is indeed correct, but they were still conscious beings from a higher plane. Koi couldn't control them nor influence them whatsoever, he just understood them way too much.

In the reality of what was right in front of him, Koi became a bitter individual. He was avoided by most... Except for one. Khui was caring and curious about Koi's nature, and... The psyche god couldn't sense any malice coming from them. Quickly he became way too attached to the god of death himself.

If the god of Death wants to go to this filthy realm... He will do anything for them. If it means wandering around mortals, then so be it. The only wish Koi ever had was for Khui to be happy. The crystals started to see each other as their enemies due their own pride. It was a mess. One that wouldn’t end so soon. Until the arcane artifact that kept the island floating was stolen right under their noses. The island fell, together with the dragons in it. The place completely crashed on earth, shattering itself in many parts, throwing massive shards all around the main chunk. Many dragons from and outside the island died due this incident. Already hurt from the war, very few crystals survived the fall. The island

xxxxxBefore called The Floating Island, what is now a crystalized mountain, was the hub of the dragons who directly served the gods and kept the balance of the world. The Crystals, a subspecies of dragons created to manipulate their own element and protect the world from possible adversities with the help of the artifacts.

It could be said the island was nothing more than a hub for these servants. Many of them oversaw a lesser artifact, or the actual changes of the world. The crystals answered to the alphas of their respective elements—those were the leaders and the guardians of the main artifact, the one each god produced personally to aid with their role.

Being so close to god and having a massive power, it was easy for each element to look down on others, be it someone away from their subspecies, or the colleagues of different elements. It has been kept in a somewhat friendly terms, until the day the gods left.

At first the crystals were confused by the lack of answer, after all, they had left without a warning. They were used to their presence and words, be it soothing or orders or anything else. The crystals considered themselves their children and without the parents, soon confusion and fear started to root in their minds.

It didn’t take much time for the dragons to notice strange changes in the world. The elements weren’t hereditary anymore, obviously that was a sudden change, and brought a lot of fight and exile thanks to it… And the animosity discussions slowly started to escalate… And what was just a teasing speech, turned into fights.

Those that managed to get away, finally realized they were already fighting a lost fight, and exiled themselves in shame of what they destroyed.

The Shattered City

In the literal sense, the name of this city was almost considered dramatic irony. The shattered remains of once a beautiful floating island is now a constant reminder of the failure of the crystals, having rest of buildings scattered around it's full glory and houses carved within the now lifeless crystals, clear of it's original magic.

For uneducated people the sight may even be considered beautiful. The city is divided amongst colors, once belonging to each element, now a tad mixed up from it's remains. At the top of the city the Academy stands proud who found its home in the island, created by a guardian named Wylde.

At the edge of the city, the Order sticks out with their complete out of place architecture. Founded by by Ciera, The Order built a base for the city to avoid any other destruction of it's natural weather, plus an elevator to take people up and down as they please provide they identify themselves beforehand.

Before the City was what it is now, however, one of the pearlcatchers alphas decided to make the City its home. Darklight found her exile a way to study a form of bringing the gods back, inevitably attracting others pearlcatchers to live in the city as well.

The feeling of uneasiness inevitably took over both of them when they heard a cracking noise coming from above, a small white dot looking down on the God of death and the God of psyche. It was Void, and it knew exactly what they were there for. Of course it would know. That dot grew more and more, a current of light being sucked by it and growing larger and larger with the cracking noises just getting louder, until finally that dot barely managed to keep its shape together. A featureless face with a sharp maw and no eyes looked down on them, while its body kept growing and forming itself. "MY CHILDREN. I KNOW WHY YOU ARE HERE, AND I'M GLAD TO BEAR GOOD NEWS FOR THE BOTH OF YOU. I ALREADY HAVE AN ANSWER FOR YOUR REQUEST." That being was Void. Its voice was so loud it could make the earth shake. For the Gods, however, this was the norm for their creator. The creature who hovered above Koi and Khui was their parent and the one who prohibited them to go back to their original dimension to begin with, and was aware of why they were there. "THE LAND THAT STARTED IT ALL... YOU ARE NOW ALLOWED TO GO BACK, AS LONG AS YOU FOLLOW THE RULES OF THE GODS. It rarely had conversations with its children, in fact. Void expected them to always listen, and they knew better than to speak out of turn. Nevertheless, didn't change the fact that it was extremely uncomfortable for them to be transported by Void, who bit them with its maw into darkness. Usually being bitten by Void would mean death. However, in this case, the creator simply sent them to a very specific and meaningful place for the gods. The floating island, now the Shattered City. Finally outside of the darkness and infinite Void of their creator they could finally breathe, and being transported there was like blinking and waking up from a long dream. A very uncomfortable dream. Standing together Koi and Khui looked at the fallen island. A feeling of nostalgia filled their hearts, and even though Koi tried deeply to deny it, he did miss being there. Standing together

xxxxxOnce again the infinite darkness surrounded the two gods.

I ALREADY HAVE AN ANSWER FOR YOUR REQUEST."

That being was Void.

DON'T CALL ANY ATTENTION TO YOUR GODHOOD AND AVOID THE KARMA CHANGE OF THE LAND. BE THANKFUL OF MY BENELOVENCE, CHILDREN"

Void did not gave a chance for neither of them to speak.

He looked at Khui ready to say something, but realized the other God was too focused on the city.

Koi couldn't help but smile. He found endearing that the God of death had so much love for the mortals, and right now he admired the look of hope in Khui's eyes.

Koi couldn't help but squint his eyes to Khui's offering, but they could never say no to their soul mate. As soon as they left Koi was already wearing the earrings with an indifferent look on their face. Looking around at the buildings - Some tipped over, yet still habitable - Koi hated to admit it but they found the city quite endearing.

They had no rush. Learning the everyday of the place was important to discover how to settle this world’s main issue—and it wouldn’t hurt to enjoy time a little more, no? At least it was what Khui thought, but a couple walking next them caught both gods’ attention:

When Khui and Koi arrived at the debate room, Khui responded with curiosity, while Koi squinted his eyes towards an anomaly standing at the center, facing his peer. One of the dragons was a wildclaw, it looked like a crystal dragon with some quirks here and there, body modifications like prothesis. This dragon had a deadpan expression and his body didn't move at all, looking like a statue. The other dragon was a guardian, considerably bigger than his counterpart and with two sets of horns, one of which was round shaped. He was dressed in a regal way with a cloak covering his back, but it was clear for everyone with eyes and ears that this dragon seemed extremely impatient, perhaps even a bit annoyed for being there. Eventually, when the mood of the room finally settle down and silence filled the air, the wildclaw finally spoke. Since his voice was so nonchalant, it seemed like everything he said had an air of mockery, a bit patronizing. His eyes were fixed on the guardian. The dragon paid no mind for the burning gaze at his direction, he was focused on the documents in his hands. For anyone who wasn’t used to it, the silence would feel excruciating, a feeling that the guardian was ignoring what the wildclaw said. Only after a careful reading, he made visual contact with the other, and spoke: [columns] [nextcol][nextcol][nextcol][nextcol][nextcol][nextcol][nextcol] “We are always happy to work together with The Order, Ciera. Even the way he spoke felt artificial. Koi kept glaring at Ciera, a transparent feeling of rage, growing larger and larger. He held his beloved's hand, to calm his anger. It was no surprise for anyone that the academy softly spoke about not wanting to make part of The Order's plans. The Debate

xxxxxThese two individuals glared at each other with certain intensity.

"Thank you for coming to our debate, The Order is happy to house such an important event. I greatly appreciate your generosity, knowing you are a very busy man, you still found time for us and our debate."

xxxxx
The introduction made by the wildclaw was short and clear.

Only after a careful reading, he made visual contact with the other, and spoke:
“We are always happy to work together with The Order, Ciera. How many of our people have been planning projects together throughout the years? However, I see that you want to take the scholars to the Imperial land and help the reconstruction, is that it..?" fXq7i91.png

"You are correct. Throughout the years there were many mistakes committed by dragons, some unknowingly, some on purpose. I will not deny, there were people within my own organization that had a hand in the crimes against our society, and I intend on taking responsibility for that.

However, doing something on my own like that would be purely foolish, and it makes me wonder: whatever happened to the kindness of this world? We are two organizations that work together, and The Order would like to request the help of the academy."

The way Ciera spoke kept getting more and more convoluted and it felt extremely scripted. Even the way he spoke felt artificial. Koi kept glaring at Ciera, a transparent feeling of rage, growing larger and larger. Khui knew his soul mate better than anyone, so he was aware that this expression was dangerous. However, they couldn't make a scene in front of so many people. He held his beloved's hand, to calm his anger.

It was no surprise for anyone that the academy softly spoke about not wanting to make part of The Order's plans. Since the war broke out centuries ago, the Shattered City have remained completely neutral regarding this whole situation, not lifting a finger to help a single soul until the end.

"Our main focus within the academy is to further down the knowledge through magic. Besides that, as long the faculty members don’t go against the stipulated rules, they are free to decide what they do.

About the academy

Although it can be said that the Academy was what founded the Shattered City, it’s impossible to say that a society wasn’t made before it’s start. It’s common knowledge that dragons starts to agglomerate where the alpha of their race lives, and that was the case with the soon to be city. Darklight, the pearlcatcher alpha moved into the island, and many pearlcatchers started to be attracted around it and settled down.

It was just when the area was starting to get on its tracks, Wylde came in, interested on the massive crystal and possible magic remaining in it. At first that was his idea visiting the place, but seeing the life there could be improved with his knowledge, soon the guardian started to help the society and teach them ways of improving their lives, given the lack of interest Darklight had with her kin. It didn’t have a name back then, but it was the start of what is the Academy today.

Open for every curious soul in the land, the purpose of the Academy is to show every dragon has the capability of producing magic. Some much more specific than others, maybe more potent, but the fact still remains: anyone has the potential, and it can be applied to the everyday if properly studied.

Nowadays the place is reference for in dept study of magic in all sorts of professional areas, calling especially the attention of the Order, whose looks for potential partners and shares some of their knowledge in exchange of it.

About Wylde

Although there’s no denying that Wylde is the Academy’s founder, some still speculate that he is also one of the main figures for the city to be what it is today.

Wylde came into the Shattered City a long time ago as his individual rebellion against the vision that guardians are more physical individuals, with no talent to produce magic. He wanted to show it was indeed possible to go against the nature set by others, and possibly learn more about the mysterious chunk the city nowadays is built on.

Despite the intimidating demeanor Wylde portrays due his sheer size and being alone with his own thoughts, he always tries to give a warm smile and a charismatic speech to anyone who needed to speak to him or vice versa.

Always patient, one of his passions is clearly teaching dragons about the subject he loves so much, and it’s what allowed him to not only create this entity that changed the city’s course, but also what turned out to be his charge. But clearly as much he keeps trying his best, there are still people that the guardian has a hard time dealing with due to personal reasons, just like the leader of the Order, Ciera.

One of the biggest reasons of this towards the Wildclaw is: he had expected Ciera to present himself and his organization when he first came by, however this didn’t happen. The lack of contact and how cold and technical speech the wildclaw shared with him left Wylde with a sour taste in his mouth. Of course, it doesn’t help that they were once married, and Ciera suddenly decided to leave him a long time ago without a proper explanation. Virtually no one knows about this personal reason Wylde had made, but doesn’t stop others to wonder if there are anymore reason for the cold treatment of the guardian against a business partner.
