TOPIC | Book/Audiobook Recs? :)
Just as the title says! Basically I'm trying not to spend so much time on social medias and I remembered I have a Library card so! I want to try to start reading. I was never much of a reader before so I'm not really sure what I'm looking for in a book exactally but I'll list some subjects or generes I'm interested in:
  • Nature documentaries
  • Astronomy
  • LGBTQ+
  • Art History
  • Video Games
  • Sci-fi
  • slice of life

Feel free to reccomend anything outside of these though! Looking to step out of the comfort zone a little.

I'm not so good at replies so thanks in advance to anyone who gives me a rec! It is truely appreciated <3

I highly recommend "The Book of Delights" by Ross Gay! It's kind of slice of lifey/journal/diary entry like. Ross Gay himself narrates the audiobook and he's a wonderful reader. I really liked the book because it wasn't too serious and kinda meditative. He writes about the joys in his life like when he noticed a praying mantis on a cup while at a cafe or his memories with his friends while they're goofing off on the street.

my favorite books/audiobooks. Genuinely these are all bangers and I can't recommend enough.

Horse by Geraldine Brooks

Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer. The whole southern reach trilogy is amazing but I understand if u don't wanna get into a large reading project.

The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay by Michael Chabon

The House on the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune
Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune

Both are feel-good adult fiction with found family, magical realism and excellent characters! LGBTQ+ reps too! <3

For scifi i'd recommend Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, it's a near future space story with plenty intrigue and a wonderful friendship.
