Today, I begin the breeding program in earnest. I have a few dragons that can both breed and yield an acceptable color range, with one nest on the way that I hope to make use of a few generation down the line. I already have Scales in the correct color range, as well. Working on getting Slime and Edged into the mix. I have one dragon with Slime, but they're so far off, color-wise, that I'm not sure if it's worth the headache.
Smirch is my current star. He's the closest to my end goal. I get an ideal predicted color range by pairing him with Scree, but I probably won't do that until I'm quite a few generations down with the genes I want, for color stabilization. For now, I'm going to have two lines of 'close enough' with Smirch/Gildecrest and Cheesecake with some other dragon I've yet to acquire. Likely some future offspring of my radioactive bogsneaks, or Blurp and Ferret, so I can start working that slime in. Not exactly at the point of being certain for this particular approach.

I've acquired Roche. He possesses the Edged gene. This means I should be able to eventually get my desired dragon, as I have all the ingredients, if all faster options should fail me. As long as I'm careful, at least.

One girl and four boys from the nesting between Smirch and Gildecrest. All the color ranges are good, however. I'll have to weed out the outliers. I'll sort that out when they grow up. Open to name ideas! They'll be in my hibernation creche until they grow up.

I bred Ash and Blurp together in an effort to get some slime into the genepool. The color ranges are not exactly ideal, but breeding a slime offspring to Petite will narrow the range. I had intended to breed Pidge with Blurp, but they may make a better stabilizer if the offspring happens to be female. I may, in fact, go ahead and breed the offspring with Roche, and an offspring of that pairing to Gildecrest or Smirch. I shall have to wait and see. My chickens have yet to hatch, after all, so they may go straight to serve the Plaguelord.
It turns out that every edit in this post will ping the people in the list, so I shall move the pinglist to the dragon list. It makes a bit more sense, anyway. I should perhaps have reserved an entirely separate post, but I didn't think so far ahead.

Smirch's position in the project has been replaced with his son, Nurmiz. I may use Smirch again in conditions where I need to breed with Gildecrest, or I'm but one generation off from breeding eligibility. Depending on how many direct generations I need for the project, I will likely use him again for the second chicken.

I have acquired a new addition to the breeding team. Chiara is still young, but she will be absolutely integral later down the line.

Oh, Fluffy Chicken, it has been three weeks since my last confession...
I've made mistakes, fam. I need to sit back and make a few more decisions, but I think breeding Chiara and McCobb is still on-point. I just might not use the rest of my lair as extensively as I presumed. This is a good thing!

I have been long considering my options available. I have finally chosen to add Cobbie, Chiara and McCobb's son, to the breeding program, as they have a lovely set of genes. This will be useful in some cases where I cannot breed Chiara. Still working on trying to get slime and edged into the genepool. I shall breed Chiara and McCobb again to this end.
