HISTORY
windbottom.png
The settlement's humble origins are vaguely known by all dragons that inhabit it. A small fae mage and a brutal guardian warmother built their house on a rather busy trading route, where they would encounter and aid many passing travellers, to the point where they made a name for themselves. Eventually, more and more dragons would flock to their side, feeling safe under their protection and guidance, resulting in the massive city it has become today.
What far fewer people know is that ever since birth, Blueberry, the Archmage, was plagued by terrible and horrific nightmares. Especially as a hatchling, many nights would pass him without a wink of sleep, waking up from nightmare after nightmare screaming and inconsolable. Despite their prevalence, rarely was he able to remember what he saw that scared him so bad, almost like they didn't want to remember...
These visions would disappear after he received the bird skull, an item that nullified his immense magical powers, only to return shortly after meeting Lilypad. This time older, wiser, Blueberry decided not to fight or run from these visions, but embrace and listen. And the more he listened, the more he wishes he had headed these warnings when he was young.
While navigating the fitful visions he was receiving, Blueberry came to the realisation that the threat he was being warned off was something that even the god-like beings that ruled over Sornieth failed to defeat. An unknowable being that wishes to swallow the very magic of the world. Old scrolls of the Arcanist spoke of this... Shade, of the god pillar it shattered, and now it reached out to Blueberry.
The revelation itself would've been enough to drive any other dragon insane, but not Blueberry. He knew there was little to be done, if all the Gods together couldn't defeat it, what chance did one lone dragon have? But that wretched thing, hope, crept inside his heart all the same.
If he could find enough warriors, enough scholars, if he could ever find that one diamond in the rough, perhaps they would be able to find someway to stop (or drive away) this threat for good, and so the settlement grew and prospered, bringing in dragons from all walks of life. Eventually his searching reached beyond the walls of Sornieth, striking an alience with a guild-king from the north and an old, familiar tyrant in the west.
The settlement is lively and strong, a celebration of uniqueness and union. Even so, the Archmage and the Warmother hope it will be a sufficient enough stronghold for the coming nightmare...
