I had a 5g desk tank with gravel and rocks(didn’t get enough gravel so rocks were to raise the substrate above the required lines.) Tried planting some carpet plants, had a sad looking Java fern. I even bought a piece of driftwood.
Well the problem is I’m really new to aquascaping so had no idea how to treat wood. And since my filter causes little flow(due to the aforementioned idiot fish) a biofilm keeps forming and it’s icky. And despite the good light I got and healthy parameters, my plants all died. Now he’s in carton jail for not recognizing something as danger and going headfirst into it multiple times.

That's cool and I am on a computer but images are blocked since it's a school issue. I had some driftwood but I couldn't figure out how to get it to sink either. My filters are too small for them to go into but one of my males likes to stick himself to the part that takes in water. If he's actually going into the filter maybe try putting something around it that water can get through but he can't. If he's just ramming into it then I got nothing. I'm also fairly new to aquascaping just throwing some stuff together. I have no idea how my plants are still alive honestly. I've got a fern and some other random plants my relative gives me.

To be completely honest I only understood 2/3 of that and I had to look up IBC but it sounds super cool. I want to try and breed my bettas but 3 were bought from commercial pet stores and the other 3 from a local pet store so I don't know how it's gonna work out or if I should do it. Anyways those sound like some very pretty fish. :3

Icykitty2007799 I've only had luck breeding petstore bettas so far...bought like 3 pairs from private breeders a couple years ago and none of them would give me babies 9_9 it was super annoying.
That's quite a collection you've got! Hecate almost looks like a grizzle in that photo. Grizzles are so neat, but you don't see them very often these days.

Hypnos seems bit shy as he came to your home recently but also seems curious X3 He's so handsome! And Hades have such a cool color, I love his black to green gradient a lot! He really is having the color of abyss... or underworld!
And your girls are so beautiful too! I guess Demeter & Hecate are not fully grown bettas yet? But their colors! It's so pretty and those koi-like patterns are so lovely :D Persephone seems so healthy and happy, you're caring your bettas so well!

I've read that it's better to get them from breeders since most pet store bettas are a big question mark. Ya Hecate was quite gorgeous but she actually died today. Her fins got super torn up and she had been hiding so I didn't catch it till it was too late. I feel really bad about it and it's been a bit of a downer on my mood today. :'(

Yes, Hypnos along with Demeter, Hecate, and Nyx are new to their tanks and all except Hecate adjusted well. Hypnos has a little tear in his fin right now because of an aggressive algae eater believe it or not. I had to take the little guy out and I gave him to my relative to put in her tank. She has angels and they keep it in line. I thought hades name was very fitting and I'm a Greek mythology fan so. Demeter, Nyx, and Hecate all came from the same small local store and seemed young when I got them so either that or they were just small. Hecate passed away due to some fin damage that I hadn't noticed since she stayed hidden after it happened and I feel terrible about it. I've separated Persephone from the group because I believe her being the bigger fish she may have caused it but I'm not sure. I know really nothing about Nyx as far as what type of betta she is I believe that the three of them were crown tails but I'm not sure. Her stripe pattern is really pretty though it appeared after we put her in her new tank. ^ ^
