The land your Clan thrives in has been hit by the plagues of Morsintus, the infamous infection mage known for curing diseases and creating many of the medicinal protocols known to healers today - but also for crafting devastating illnesses across recorded history that have wiped out countless Clans, such as the one that suddenly hit your Clan.
The plague is known to kill dragons within hours, foaming at the mouth and appearing to decompose an infected individual from the inside out, erasing all morality and ability to function while keeping the dragon alive as long as it can. The eyes gloss over, giving the dragon a zombie-like appearance.
Hatchlings are especially susceptible to the Living Rot, with half of all hatchlings dying as soon as their bodies separate from their eggs.

Not a single member of your Clan survives.

Time passes, your Clan’s territory growing wild and its lair falling into disrepair. An orphaned dragon takes shelter there, and among the debris of the lair they find a single egg, still viable and close to hatching.

Hope fuels the dragon to build back the Clan to glory.

RULES AND SETUP

SETUP
+ Go to the Auction House and purchase a First Generation dragon of any type, of any element - preferably your Clan’s element - that has not been bred. This is your new founder dragon, and everyone else in your Clan gets dealt with as you wish. You may do anything to your dragons as long as it is clear which dragons are part of the nuzlocke and which ones are not.
+ Obtain an unhatched egg.
+ Vault all your existing treasure and gems, or start a record of funds for your nuzlocke dragons.
+ Take note of what’s in your hoard, or sell everything you possibly can from it.
+ You may only have ten dragon slots and two nest spaces at the start of the challenge, and have to “rebuy” them by putting the corresponding treasure into your vault.

BASICS
+ If a dragon faints, it’s dead and must be exalted.
The first faint of your founding dragon is excused, but additional faints, from any dragon including the founding dragon, are deaths.
+ You may only purchase a dragon from the Auction House once three dragons are at level 25, and it must also be a First Generation dragon with no lineage.
+ You are allowed to use your current food points to feed your challenge dragons, but once it runs out, you cannot hunt for it. You may only use food gained in the coli.
+ You may only scavenge.
+ You may Primary Gene a dragon at level 10, Secondary Gene a dragon at level 15, and Tertiary Gene a dragon at level 20. You may scatter scroll a dragon at level 25.

FUNDS
+ You may sell anything your dragons have gained themselves, including scavenge items.
+ You may only purchase dragons/items using the funds that the nuzlocke dragons have earned.
+ Daily allowance for keeping your Clan fed does not count as earned funds.

NESTS
+ All hatchlings have a coin flip of life upon hatching. Tails is their death sentence.
+ A dragon may only have as many nests as they have levels when first paired.
+ A dragon mates for life and will most likely become a widow if their mate dies.
+ A dragon is not considered an adult until level 3.

FAMILIARS
+ Familiars are a Gen 2+ only mechanic. Gen 1 is more focused on surviving than they are on making friends.
+ Familiars may only be obtained through the coliseum.
+ A six on a six-sided die is the only way the familiar doesn’t run off.
+ Select a random Gen 2+ dragon for the familiar to bond with.
+ If that dragon faints in battle, as long as the familiar’s level is above “wary”, the familiar will give its life in place of your dragon’s. If it is at wary level, you lose both the familiar and the dragon, as the familiar will just run away.

PART I:
What Once Was

Several seasons ago, the Sakura Sanctuary was teeming with life. I don't quite know if what I've heard is true, but I can feel it - deep within the soil: a memory unchanged by time.

It was a somewhat quiet day at the Sanctuary. Two large, deep purple Guardians sat still on the northern border, keeping an eye out for invaders who would threaten the peaceful lands from the front. A hainu flew past them, chased by a silver-speckled pearlcatcher whose only purpose at the moment was to give the flying canine a bath. "Get back here, Yew!" she snapped her jaws, interrupting the otherwise silence. Yew the hainu barked and flew higher, leaving a shower of dusty feathers in his wake.

Yew only got caught when he flew straight into another dragon, a Tundra who, though not a part of the Clan, often was around. The silver dragoness skidded to a halt mere inches from the scatterbrained dragon who didn't quite know what to make of the situation and picked the canine up carefully in her mouth as to avoid breaking the dog's wings or otherwise harming it. Saykura nodded to the Tundra and flew off with a very upset puppy tucked between her teeth.

Her workshop smelled like creatures of all sorts, and several of them lay in beds of moss on the floor with broken feathers or wounds that needed tending to. The pearlcatcher opened her maw and the hainu tumbled out. "We're going to behave now, aren't we, Yew?"

Yew made no promises to do as instructed, and she swore he looked at her with eyes reminiscent of vengeance.

Saykura went about her day, feeding the animals, attempting to and once again failing to make any breakthrough with training Yew to not fly away to his own amusement, and tending to the ones that had gotten themselves injured over the course of the night. The pearlcatcher took care to give them fresh bedding in the form of mosses and dried grasses. She made sure the sanctuary was free of debris from careless winds, and took time to ensure it looked as natural as everyone liked it.

The sleeping areas that each creature had carved needed to be checked and their area tidied. Most of them appreciated their area cleaned up, although a few could wallow in their own filth if they had their way. Any waste they had produced would be turned into fertilizer for the plant-based treats she grew that would be ready to harvest in the coming season.

Saykura did all of this humming a tune, checking in with each of the creatures she looked after, noting any complaints they had. River the Prowler wanted more fish in his stream, his neighbor Eon wanted a sunnier napping spot. She nodded her head, promising to arrange these things.

It was then a white pearlcatcher burst into her workshop, panicked to no end. "Saykura! Saykura!" Whisp cried, nearly dropping his pearl to waiting jaws of Yew. "It's Noctis! He's... h-he's-" he seemed at a loss for words. "D- d... oh, just come with me!"

The two flew over to the main lair, a massive building that usually seemed abandoned at this time of day. Saykura could see each member of her Clan gathered inside. Once inside the lair herself, squeezing past the dragon menagerie and several creatures that had followed her - her pearl dropped and rolled towards a body that perfectly mimicked carrion, but other swore he was alive and well when he set off in the morning, not long after she had done her dawnlit rounds. The pearlcatcher's heart sank.

The few dark scales that remained were the iridescent black scales of the Skydancer, a few lost feathers looking like they'd been plucked straight from his mighty wings. The flesh of the dragon was blackened, a pool of white foam where his half-decomposed maw lay open.

"He's... gone." her whisper filled the room and broke every-dragon's heart. Even the fighting pair of Ragepuffs held their tongues, as a world without their leader suddenly realized itself collectively in their minds.

What's Happened?

The beginning:
Founding Dragon: Iko the Mirror
Subordinate Dragon/s: Umra the Bogsneak

+ Iko was killed by a pair of Ragepuffs soon after Umra was hatched.

Umra had become the Generation Leader, all alone and unable to hunt or fight.
+ In her young days, Umra found a Nature egg, who turned into Zaani, the male Fae.
+ The two started training in the Training Fields together when Zaani became an adult.
Another lucky scavenged egg resulted in Revean the female Mirror.

+ The trio have begun the process of leveling, reaching level 4 each on 1/6/2022.
+ Umra and Zaani have become mates and they will be hoping for healthy, live hatchlings on 1/8/2022.
