I am looking for other games to play that have similar features. There is, of course, Goatlings- that's about it. Everything else I have found is over complicated.

I recommend checking out Eliyo!
It has battling that is reminiscent of Pokemon as well as pretty fun breeding system. It's still in beta right now with a lot of future updates planned too.
There is a kickstarter scheduled for next week, but the preview is already released.

Creatures are pretty individual in appearance and also have personality that affects their mood and what pose they appear in. There are 7 adult poses.

Starting out can be a little challenging for people right now (currently in beta and the intro tutorial needs work) but people are pretty friendly too and routinely do giveaways for people starting out too. With a little bit of time doesn't take long to amass a hoard of cute pets.
