Ray sighed, her breath frosting in the cold air. It was evening, and the sun had set completely. She was out in the forest, looking at the spot where her friend had been taken from her. She didn't want to think about it, but needed some closure. She had only told Richard that she was going out for some fresh air, but he might have gleaned more from her expression.
The night was crisp, and she was glad to be out without worry. If there were any hunters, she could easily hide from them now. The night was her territory, her safe place.

Victoria was glad it was night. Hunters and other dragons didn’t come out as often so she felt safe. Suddenly she felt that someone was watching her; she turned but didn’t see anyone. Then, while being in human form, she heard a noise and decided to slowly advance with caution. As she peeked through the trees she saw a girl standing in the clearing. She then decided to try and disappear without being noticed. It was to late; she thought the girl see her but she couldn’t be sure. She didn’t like using her magic but she felt she couldn’t risk being seen. So she stared at the girl and concentrated hard. While she tried to sent the girl off into a gentle and peaceful sleep, she considered the option of runing. Victoria used more magic than she had planned but still wasn’t sure if she had succeeded. Eventually Victoria was so tired she decided to flee but was only able to get a few yards before collapsing in exhaustion.
