yes, this! i'm stuck in a half-logged-in limbo.

browser: firefox

page url: https://www1.flightrising.com/login

error text:

"Well, this is embarassing

It looks like something went wrong. The place to let us know about this would be in the bug report forum.

If you post a report, please include the following information:

https://www1.flightrising.com/login

in /filters.php Line 16"

other error texts:

"Whoops! You must be logged in to access this area." (when trying to log out from any page)

"firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete." (on page https://www1.flightrising.com/login )

situation:

problem began for me on october 29th.

on www1 pages, when i refresh or go to a new page, the site always switches between showing me logged in at the top right and showing the sign up/login buttons there instead. even if i only refreshed and stayed on exactly the same page. it's as if www1 pages are all constantly toggling between me being logged in and logged out.

whenever i try to log out, it takes me to the generic "Whoops! You must be logged in to access this area" page. there is no specific error message offered, it's just the general https://www1.flightrising.com/noauth page. this happens when i try logging out from www pages and from www1 pages.

whenever i try to log in, my browser tells me "firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete." if i click 'try again' it loads the login page successfully, but anytime i (or any of my housemates) try to log in, it takes us to the /filters.php line 16 error report quoted above.

on www pages, i once (on the 29th) managed to stay logged in between pageloads long enough to do my gathering turns and visit tomo and pinkerton, but since then i'm always logged out no matter how many times i try to log in. when i switch from a www page to a www1 page, the site sometimes changes my status between logged in and logged out. www pages themselves remain internally consistent with whether i'm logged out or in.

none of my housemates can access the site in our main browser (firefox) any more. i can only access it sporadically in firefox and usually without the ability to do anything, because if i'm considered logged in enough to be shown the option to do a thing, when i click to do the thing the page will generally load/refresh to me being logged out. so for example if i can get this thread to load with me as logged in so that the reply window is open, when i hit 'submit' on my reply the site will refuse to post it and tell me i need to be logged in to do that. (i'm posting from a different browser.)

steps taken:

hard refresh, no result.

cleared cache, no result.

hard-rebooted computer, no result.

waited a few days: no change.

changed browser, partial result:

i and my housemates are all now using another browser (opera) to be able to access the site at all. this isn't a proper fix because we had already switched from opera to firefox to work around opera's bugs, and our (very old) machine can't run any other browsers. so we can't change browser again and we still can't access all of the site features (like fairgrounds).
