Alba liked dragons that were not like the others. That were different, like she was. Broken. The coatl's gait was strange, shambled, and his voice was oddly broken and croaking, most unlike most other coatls she'd met, which had singing voices. Her sister always complained about coatl voices, but Alba liked the music. But she liked this dragon's voice too.
He was tossing the bones for another dragon, she saw. [i]Divination is a science like another here on Sornieth.[/i] Was it sheer curiosity or more that drove her to spread her wings and land behind the other dragon he was reading for?

So to find him clutching anxiously at a posy of daisies by the doorway of Melinoe's lair is quite a surprise - a regular feat of bravery for the timid Nocturne. When he sees her coming, he lets out a high-pitched squeak, before losing his nerve and dropping the flowers to skitter away. The note on the slightly-rumpled bouquet reads, "For someone prettier than any blossom".
