" Very well.. Since I am sure you won't let this down otherwise. Despite the fact that I am yet to understand the appeal. "

A brow raised on his well sculpted features, arms folding over his chest to show some gesture of defense on his part; despite being unable to say no to her of all people. There was a certain charm she carried, perhaps it was her ability to brush off his flirtatious behavior; not easy to succumb to a man's good looks.

-Sure this feature proved to be annoying, hardly anyone could resist. Perhaps that is what gained his interest in this mere mortal.

" A lady such as yourself deserves everything you wish for. "

They had made it back to the Motel this night in one piece, and he had to say, at that moment a motel room had never looked so inviting. Sabin pushed the door shut with a long exasperated sigh, old and worn it screeched in protest closing forcefully with a clap. Taking stock of his companions there was Amun, Strider, Gideon, and of course, the girl Eliza present, they crossed the room finding comfort where they could, a bed, a couch or chair. The motel room was sparsely furnished, small, dirty and horribly outdated in retro geometric patterns hued in neutral browns tans and oranges, stained floor to ceiling with god-knows-what but it functioned just fine for their purpose. Luxury and comfort was not a goal currently despite numerous complaints from his fellow warriors.

-"My god this place is awful, why can't we stay at the Boston Harbor Hotel?" or "The Omni Parker House is nice, better than this sh*thole" the whining and moping was endless, like a bunch of children the whole lot of them despite being centuries old "Daddy" was the nickname they had so lovingly gave him.

Cameo and Kane were noticeably absent at the present time, but he had faith they would be returning shortly, wishing them silent victory in their endeavors. Sabin, the keeper of doubt turn eyes on the only mortal in the room then, a sheep among wolves it seemed. Like any apex predator he regarded her with silent ferocity, trapping her under the weight of an intense stare.

"Ok, who the f*ck are you?"

The events of the past thirty minutes prompted this inquisition. Taking a sharp turn down a Boston road, the Century Scroll slipped to the floor only to be retrieved by the mortal girl in the back seat. what happened next as almost unbelievable. The avian latch on the scroll snapped open allowing access to its holder. Hesitant to open it, almost aware of the immense power she held in her hands Eliza looked from the object to Sabin and Strider who had at this point turned their eyes on her.

"Huh? What are you talking about?" was the fearful response received

Sabin, impatient for answers and unwilling to ask any more questions turned then "Amun" was all he said, summoning his Companion from the other side of the room. Amun was the keeper of secrets, adorned in all black he moved wordlessly. There was knowledge in his purpose, without discussion he knew what he was summoned for. As the keeper of secrets, Amun was capable of reading thoughts, uncovering dark secrets and sifting through memories as if they were pages in a book.

"Your turn, jack*ss" Pointing with the bottle of wine towards his current pool opponent Strider laughed, it was a full lyrical vocalization, the epitome of contentment. Taking a swig of sweet ambrosia laced wine he twirled the pool stick he held in hand, He was tipsy he had to admit and damn, it felt good. It had been too long since he was able lower his guard like this, today was for rest and relaxation.

Strider was armed to the teeth-he was not alone in this, they all were. Not a single one of his fellow immortal comrades got out of bed in the morning without at least a loaded 9 mm. Centuries of war had taken its toll, leaving them leery and callous. There was no threat here amongst his brothers, though the tension of their recent Reunion was still very high, at least they weren't at each others throats, which was good, yay progress.

There was something peaceful about the place his brothers had come to call home, The modern, yet homie decor, the sense of solitude and security, the breath-taking view of the bustling city below, all of these things seemed to create a sense of timeless serenity removed from the reality of their struggle.

Reyes smiled running an unsheathed blade along his forearm, the self infliction drawing blood to the surface. Reyes, keeper of Pain did this on the daily it was the only way he could feel anything. he took up his pool stick without a word, eyeing the pool table for any point of strategic advantage. He wouldn't just let Strider win, oh no. none of these warriors ever just let Strider win, It wasn't a victory then.

"Mind the blood Reyes, Aaron wont be happy if he has to clean blood stains out of the carpet again" Lucian warned without taking his mismatched eyes off the television, with Paris absent they could watch something other than skin flicks, their choice in cinema this day being Ridley Scott's Alien.

The two men followed the couple at a distance. they were originally out scouting for Galen’s pet who yet again had wandered off again after killing her current babysitter, but upon stumbling across the keeper of promiscuity with one of his many women they both agreed that tailing one of the demons was more important than finding the brat. The larger of the men radioed in for back up to be ready in case the other demons showed up. he smiled to himself an shouldered his partner “you think they will let us have some fun with the girl if we bag this monster?”

The older hunter sighed “lets just focus on not getting killed and doing our job right seeing how we already deviated from our orders” he grumbled at his partner. He didnt know why he was partnered with this newbie, he was young, stupid and and had a cruel streak, not that his hands were clean but at least he had self control. He frowned at the larger man’s eager smile, but just shook his head and concentrated on not losing the immortal.

An uneasy feeling began to reside in the pit of Paris' stomach at this point. The occasional glances around for new tail to chase for the evening began to fall suspicious onto the crowds. Something certainly wasn't right, that much wouldn't take a genius to hypothesize upon.

Jerking forward, abruptly being snapped out of the turmoil of his distraction; blue orbs floated back onto Eliza, followed by a hand to meet contact on her shoulder. A firm grasp that expressed a sense of protection.

-" I-... Digress.. Why don't we hurry you back home? Hm? Take a quick break before resuming our task at hand... The-.. Coffee machine. "

"ALREADY? we've only been out for maybe an hour and a half" she turned longingly from the bustling city streets to the face of the immortal she had accompanied into town, with every intention to challenge him, it wasn't every day she got to join the common populous in normal human activities. Immortals were strange in some ways, to say the least, and she had spent time with them enough that this was a much-deserved break. Eliza hauled her verbal assault, taking measure of the full weight of his expression.

"what's wrong? and don't bullsh*t me" this said in a hushed tone, she noted his rigid posture, the dangerous expression painted across such beautiful features, this stark contrast stunned her, Paris carried a hard gaze that rivaled any apex predator. Though overlooked by the average human being This was something she had come to know every well in the year she had been in their company, it wasn't every day you ran into a merciless band of murderers, Eliza was a sheep among wolves as much as she hated to admit it.

" Yes already, listen to me alright? "

That firm hand that placed onto her nearest shoulder now slid across towards the other; tugging her petite frame in closer, closeness that is typically only expressed by that of a doting couple. Paris' voice carried an uncanny amount of concern, yet clearly kept his words hushed, not wanting to draw any attention; aiming to blend into the crowds, a wolf wearing sheeps clothing.

Looming inward, voice low, lips in close proximity of Eliza's ear, he began to speak.

" Keep a close eye on the crowds, a couple faces continue to stick out.. As if they are profiling us.. When I say ' Let's take you back home ' I mean it. "

The older man switched on his earpiece

“sniper one are you in position?

“ïn position sir, target is in sight.waiting for orders”

“hold shoot order, avoid hitting the female she can be brought in she might have information on the others, and remember maim don't kill.”

“roger that”

The hunter nodded then radioed the two other teams in the area

“Teams 1 and 2 are you in place?”

“both teams are in place and are on standby”

“stay in place until I give orders to move in, understood?”

“Roger that”

“Sniper one take the shot”

The man readied himself and followed the couple with his scope, as a pedestrian finally moved out his line of sight he squeezed the trigger and felt the kick of the rifle as he shot at the demon’s torso away from the women next to him.

With a sudden jolt of surprise, the bullet grazes his shoulder; turning all too sharply on his heels, eyeing the direction in which the bullet came from. Offering a cold stare at the humanoid form he could make out a good hundred or so meters from their position.

If the situation was any different, Paris certainly wouldn't hesitate to dart at the snipers position; yet Eliza's life was also being gambled, had the bullet been mere inches to the left it would've done an astonishing number on her. After all, even the most skilled gunsman was known to make mistakes.

" Eliza... Listen to what I say and just f**king run already, don't argue just do it for the love of God. "

-Paris's voice was low and husky, the arm once around her shoulder now placed over the wound as the man stopped dead in his tracks. Fingers dampened in a burgundy hue of blood, also beginning to soak through his clothing.

Paris ushered her into the nearest alleyway, He then instructed her to call Lucien, give him her position as well as his and circle around the block towards the vehicle they had taken into town. she was not to stop or speak to anyone. Not a word escaped her lips as she took the phone he offered her. There was a calm, controlled understanding behind those wide alert eyes.

With a stiff nod Eliza took off without much prompting, zigg-zagging down the barren pathway between shops and businesses, she wanted to get distance between herself and their tail before they caught on to her absence. When she felt she was far enough away the girl slowed, she looking down at the phone she held in hand, there was a few seconds of hesitation, as if she may stray from what had been instructed to do, she was alone to make her own choices now perhaps leave this city and these immortals far behind her.

No, she couldn't just do that as much as she wanted to. Eliza let loose a soft sigh of sweet defeat, lifting the phone to her ear as she activated the call button, it rang once, then twice finally an answer.

Eliza was greeted with a long sigh followed by a less than happy greeting "Yes Paris?"

"It's Eliza, We were attacked in town just now. someone took shots at us"
