I just got one … is it just the type or..?

TOPIC | What is an arcane egg?
@Flapmon Unhatched eggs will hatch into a completely random triple basic plentiful (Fae, Mirror, Guardian, Tundra) dragon. The element tells you what the flight of the dragon will be. So if you hatch your Arcane egg you'll get a random plentiful dragon with Arcane eyes.

@Flapmon
You can occasionally get unhatched elemental eggs from the coliseum or scavenging. These can either be hatched to get a first generation dragon of one of the starter breeds (mirror, tundra, guardian, fae) of the element that matches the egg, with randomly generated colours and all basic genes.
Alternatively, these can sell for a nice price on the Auction House. The cheapest Arcane Egg is currently around 246 gems.

Additionally, unhatched elemental eggs are used for unlocking Hibden slots. Depending on which you value more (gems or unlocking that extra space in your Hibden), you may want to stash it for later. Unhatched eggs are very rare, even more so if you're trying to find a specific element, so there may come a time when you could really use that egg.
It's entirely up to you, there's really no wrong answer here. Just wanted to pop in with this bit of info since it hasn't been mentioned yet.
