TOPIC | New player: breeding question (soap)
Hey there; So I'm really new to the game, just about two or three weeks at this point. I was hoping someone could explain something to me. I am trying to breed for the soap gene at the moment. I snagged this guy. And was planning to breed them with this guy. Hoping I'd have a fair chance at a soap Tertiary, constellation secondary offspring. To my surprise though no matter how much I preview their future offspring; I don't see soap in the mix at all. Are tertiaries only passed down maternally? Any info / knowledge shared would be super appreciated! Thanks for your time.

@Squackles
Tertiary being passed down depends on the rarity, the same goes with all Genes. This guide here should help

Hi there! Welcome to Flight Rising, by the way. Different genes have different chances of being inherited by offspring, with basic being the most common. Soap is a gem gene, so it’s a lot harder to pass down unless you’re breeding with another gem gene. I hope this helps!

So the problem that you're going to have here is that the Guardian dragon has a Basic tertiary gene! Genes are passed down from both parents, but genes have different rarities that decide how likely the offspring is to get the gene. Basic is the most likely gene in any combination to be given, while Soap is a rare gene. So according to this chart, you're only likely to see 1 Soap gene in every 99 offspring. So there's a chance, but the odds are not in your favor. [emoji=skydancer laughing size=1] Luckily, though, constellation and shimmer are both rare so they have a 50/50 chance at that!

Welcome to the game!

Breeding in Flight Rising works by gene rarity if I remember correctly, meaning more common genes will usually be gained more than rarer genes.

Whilst I'm unsure as to the rarity of Soap, breeding with any dragon that has 'Basic' Genes will usually result in Basic being passed on to their hatchlings. This is due to the fact that the Basic genes are abundant and have a higher chance of being passed onto the hatchlings compared to any other gene in the game.

TLDR: Genes are passed on based on that gene's rarity. Breeding Basic genes with any other gene will usually result in Basic.
