hi!! im running an auction right now for the first time and i know that having a snipe guard is a common thing so i put one on only to realize i have. no idea what it actually is/means. i know its a way that supposed to keep people from "sniping" at the last second, but if someone could explain how it actually works a little more i would really appreciate it!! for context, my auction ends this sunday at 12:00 FR time and my snipe guard is 2 hours. would this mean that my guard should go into place at 11:00 FR time? or not at all unless someone bids during that time?? i just wanna get things cleared up so my auction runs smoothly!!

unchline A snipe guard is a way to give all bidders a chance to win the auction.
So if your auction ends at 12:00 and someone bids at 11:50 then because of your 2 hour snipe guard the new end time would be 13:50. This would continue until no one else bids within the remaining time.

Lonin thank you!! i guess im just a little confused on when the snipe guard goes into place. like you said, if someone bids at 11:50 then it extends the auction by 2 hours, but when is the acceptable time to start that? like if someone bid at 11:30 would the snipe guard go into effect then?

Punchline It generally applies from the length of the snipe guard. Yours is 2 hours so you'd start it if someone bids within 2 hours of the end time. So any time after 10:01.
It's your auction though so stuff like this is up to you. As long as you communicate when the snipe guard starts you can start it whenever you like.
