So I heard there are rare genes and common genes I was told if I want to have a rare gene do not breed to a common gene is like breeding a fancy mouse to a regular brown mouse you will get all brown ones.
Also there are no carriers so no matter how many times I do it the regular one will never carry the rare gene and almost never pass it on.
Like shiny ones are rare Metallic and Alloy. What can I breed to to have a chance to keep that?

Davchaf You can see the breeding rarities of genes here:

Breeding with a dragon with metallic/alloy will give you a 100% chance at those genes. If you breed with any other gem (rare) genes you'll have a 50% chance at either one.
So for metallic you'd want to breed with metallic, crystal, iridescent, petals, starmap or wasp.
