You need to melt down food items in the cauldron in order to make Goo! There is no guarantee of which color you'll get; each kind of goo has its own rarity, and it's otherwise random which one pops out. Brew enough, and you're bound to get a few of each color, unless you're extraordinarily unlucky...
If you're short on food, Plague has a food bank that will help you feed your dragons! If you're not a fan of handouts, you can buy stacks of food from other players on the Auction House. Search for whatever type you need, and set the stack size to "99." Full stacks are cheaper than individual/partial stacks! When brewing, I recommend keeping track of your dragons' diets, and only melt down the kind(s) of food you need the least of.
