TOPIC | Nightly maintenance?
I'm new here, so if there's an old announcement about this somewhere, I probably missed it.
What's with the 30min nightly MX? Other petsites run their crons without needing to log everyone out or go into read-only mode. Granted FR seems to be doing a lot differently (like the coliseum - immeasurable improvement over other sites where each attack reloads the page), so maybe that's one of the things. And I know the site's still growing, so that's probably part of it as well.
Just wondering.

@skywolf,

Hello there! The maintenance is completely normal and happens nightly at 12AM server time. This is by no means out of the ordinary and is commonly known as the "rollover" time for users, and during this time, all users are automatically logged out of the site while maintenance is underway.

I figured it was regular mx, I was just wondering why on FR it's setup so that everyone is logged out and unable to use the site for 30 minutes, while on other sites, the nightly resets/rollovers/crons are able to run (usually) without disruption to players.

If you're not actually using the site it doesn't log you out - I usually tab out just before 5 and come back after 5.30 (my time) and I'm still logged in. Try and access it during and you have to log in again. It's a good time to go and wash up or something boring.

Im not 100% sure, but I think it has something to with the fact that FR have had a lot of server problems, due to the massive amount of users. At rollover the site has to load all the adult images of grown-up babies, reset all users Gathering turns, as well as familiars, lucky streak and Pinkerton claim - which is a lot for now 20.000 accounts. So to make it a smooth transaction, users a logged out for 30 min to allow the site to do these things, without having to load the data online users create at the same time.
