DrSheep that’s true! most of my exposure to the games is through videos and streams as well. it’s nice to be in a space where i don’t have to feel like i need to know everything, which is good for a series as long-running as resident evil where learning the lore in a timely manner would be kind of a nightmare lol.
@
BladeDancer that’s good. hopefully the remakes turn out good, i’m curious what direction they’ll take them!

Not stressing too much over it is also a great way to avoid the toxic parts of the fandom. A lot of RE fans have always been kinda weirdly obsessed over what's 'canon' and what's not and will aggressively argue with each other over it. It's like, chill, you don't need to get nasty with each other, even Capcom doesn't care this much about it!
I'm so excited about the future of the series! I can't wait to see what they have planned next, the series is in a great place right now.

My least favorite kind of toxic fans are the ones who complain about how goofy the series has gotten. Like, this whole thing was never entirely serious in the first place, its always been full of goofballs which is one of my favorite parts of it all.

We had Jill Sandwiches and Master of Unlocking from the very start! I love how cheesy it is and that the series has always embraced that.
These are the same people who complain about things not been 'realistic' enough... in a series where people turn into giant T-rex monsters.

Yea, so many qoutes from this series have worked their way into my vocabulary, even the way I say some things has turned goofy. (For example when I say "stop it,") its silly, but its meant to be silly, and thats the beauty of it. We're supposed to have a good time wondering HOW Leon has survived to adulthood, why Chris's first instinct is p u n c h, why Heisenberg is uh... *gestures vaguely*
point is I will forever go to bat for the silly side of things, the series wouldn't be the same without it.
(oops got a bit heated there, weh >-< )

Some of the lines are really easy to slip into normal conversation but it's totally the delivery that makes them. Stuff like Barry's "TakeALookATTHIS" and "OHMYCOD" are great.
I love the boss fight with Heisenberg in the tank, like it's so silly and over the top and I enjoyed every moment of it.
Even with the RE4Remake going for a more serious tone, they still kept a lot of the goofiness and cheese. It's just OG RE4 was like 99% cheese, that entire game was just the whole cast memeing on each other.

My favorite part about that boss fight (other than all of it), is when Heisenberg reveals he apparently knows about Chris and the boulder. The implications are wild. Where have you been, Karl. What have you seen.

I can’t believe people think the games have to be serious when “insect’s life doesn’t compare to human lives” is an actual line from re4. actually i can’t believe people think the games have to be serious when re4 exists at all gnfjjdkfbfn

Did Sheva tell everyone? Did Chris take up boulder punching as a casual hobby after RE5 and word spread. Did he literally write in his report "and then I punched a giant boulder out the way" and Heisenberg got access to it. I need to know.

If people are looking for super serious horror games with RE I think they picked the wrong series or totally got the wrong impression. I hope when they reveal RE9 they just show something really goofy and absurd right away in the trailers to show "no, this isn't going away."

Knowing these goofs it could be any of those things. Maybe Chris was casually punching the mountain before he actually took action at the village. But I think at that point Heisenberg would have been too busy... studying Ethan to notice that. (I refuse to believe making him so obviously interested in him was anything but an active choice on the devs part.)
I also Second the re9 thing.
