I've never really thought about it until recently. My dog is starting to get old and it's becoming more and more noticeable...I'm somewhat hoping that she'll pass while I'm away at school, at least so I don't have to see.
She's the first pet I've ever had long term, so only now do I realize how difficult losing her will be. I just try not to think about it though.

I lost my dog two years ago. I still remember him, I visit his grave. He sometimes visits me too - in dreams. Yeah, I still dream about him :) I loved him and still love him and love doesn't just "go away" when the pet dies. Still the part of my dog is alive - in me, in my memories and dreams.
