@Cynictis It was easy to survive actually...we all put one bite in our mouths and then spit it out and that was the end of it. Never again. Tunies were made in San Diego and I don't think they ever went national or anything. There is a story of their creation if you google Tunies hotdogs. Unfortunately I don't remember if they were rubbery or salty. I was a fairly young kid (somewhere between 4 and 6 probably) and that would make it 60+ years ago...nah, can't really remember. Then again I may not have known even then, they just didn't stay in our mouths long enough...it was just wretched. I mean, we didn't even swallow a bite. Tasted it and spit. Thats all there was to it. Isn't it weird though? I couldn't tell you much else I ate as a kid, but, I sure remember those. Wait! I DO remember the time my mom, who wasn't a great cook at best, was making mashed potatoes and we were out of regular milk so she made them with chocolate milk. Tasted ok, but we couldn't get past the look of em, as you can imagine. Poor mom, we never let her live that one down.

pretty sure this isn't an older-food thing but I just found it on reddit and I think it kind of applies to this thread
I'm also like 99% sure it's satire but still

I just shivered from this horror on a stick

@OwnedByCats Oh god, my mom was also a little kid in San Diego in the late 50s. I'll have to ask her if she ever faced the horror of Tunies.

What the hell
Why do you people think this is disgusting? My mouth is watering looking at all this, I'd eat these happily.
Seriously, some of you are looking at a meat pie/Shepards pie saying it's gross, wtf? What sort of hellish country do you live in?
