TOPIC | Non-Traditional Weddings/Dresses?
1 2 3
I'm nowhere near getting married, but that doesn't stop me from googling over wedding ideas. I've found that I'm really into non-traditional wedding dresses. Specifically this dress in sapphire.

Does anyone else have non-traditional wedding/dress plans? Any idea is welcome.

@KittenFromHell Something like that looks fabulous. Since I really don't like dresses. Why should one wear something as trist as the colors of sickness and decay on your special day? Bonelike white and moldy black are not things I want en masse on such a happy day. Why not sky blue and silver? Or green and yellow/gold? Marriages should be a bit more lively and less dead/stiff.

@Ismaiel I plan for my wedding to be mostly blue with touches of white. I don't know if I could stand a completely white wedding. Even off-white is too plain for me. Also that suit/cape is epic~

Its defenitely different from the dress thing. I also think it breaks the whole 'women looking frail' kinda stuff that a lot of dresses have going. (Thankfully not all mind you :) )
I think it gives a nice energetic look plus even with the long cape its more praktical for actually WALKING than most dresses I've seen my folks wear to their marriages. I just don't understand why one would choose a dress where your lenght of stride is barely a foot long... especially if one is going to walk all the way through the park for a ceremony. But I guess she really liked the look even though she complained about her feet killing her the whole evening XD

Oh I just love blue! Its the colorrange with the most hues I like. With green and yellow it really depends on the hue. People always thend to say blue is cold - but depending on the way it is used and the hues used it is great for calming, freshness and energizing (without stressing).

I've seen some lovely sky/ice blue skirt and blazer combinations with golden accents while helping a friend shop for her dress. It looked lovely on her. Sadly my friend is colorblind and didn't like it at all because of that. But in the end its the bride that has to feel well in her dress/costume :)

@KittenFromHell dunno about you, but i LOVE dresses, especially ones with the old-fashioned look, like from the victorian era, or something out of a fairytale. i'd love to wear something like this on my wedding: or even this: i'm just a fan of big, poofy dresses, especially ones that reach the floor. i dislike skinny dresses and short ones, and i love ones that i could twirl and dance around in, y'know? but if i find one i like, i could probably wear a non-traditional wedding dress. maybe something like this: or this: i'm enough of a lunatic to want to wear all of these dresses in non-special occasions. i just...love dresses man

@Determination Being able to dance in a dress is always a requirement. Those all look pretty, especially those boho/flowy dresses at the bottom~

@Ismaiel I also plan on having gold as well, accented with the navy blue and white. It's such a clean and crisp color combo! And I believe that as well. It's what the bride/groom/whoever wants and feels comfortable in. As long as they're comfortable, that's what matters.

My wedding dress was knee-length, sleeveless, black, with pink detailing in the bodice, and horizontal pink and black stripes in the skirt. It was also not a satin/sateen/velvet. I wore it with black stockings and black stiletto ankle boots. My wife wore a red and black floaty short-sleeved top and floaty black pants.

And did I mention our wedding was outside in January in Virginia? No snow, thank goodness, but it was still cold. Only had immediate family there, no wedding party aside from the brides and the officiant. We wrote our own vows/speeches, and we had a high tea at a B&B afterwards for our reception - just sitting and chatting with the 8 guests we had. Tiny wedding, but exactly what we wanted.

noli timere tempestatem. tempestas est res pulchra. ama tempestatem et gaude in pulchritudine.

nunc, ad tuas labores reveni!
@inhumanelm Thanks! That's part of the reason I chose it, since I have a body frame that's awkward to dress sometimes.
