TOPIC | Games that Shut down
RIP DragonAdopters. That site was so cute, and I was only on it for a couple of years before it shut down. T.T
I originally joined FR because I was trying to find some way to stave off the DA withdrawals, hah... I still miss it, but at least I have my beloved Lizardi back. <3 NEVER LEAVE ME AGAIN. ;__;

I used to play FreeRealms at one point! I had no idea it had closed down, but it was a cute game.

@diaveborn
Yes, Glitch was great! I joined not all that long before they closed down, so I never got super into it, but I really enjoyed it. It was relaxing and had nice graphics.

Does anyone remember Earth Eternal? It was this free, browser-based 3D MMO with like 20-odd races to choose from, and fairly decent graphics for a browser game at the time, from what I remember. It was the first time I really got into an MMORPG, besides my stint on Runescape in middle school. I think it was around 2009 or so when it closed down, which is quite a long time ago now. O.o

BattleForge.
It was an online game with some single-player missions and a lot of Multiplayer, but it was so different from all the MMORPGs I've played.
For starters, you didn't control a character.

You had a deck of cards, each card having one of four elemental affinities (and later on one of three or four combination affinities), and each one was either a unit, a spell or a building. To be able to play a card and spawn something, you eeded power from power wells. Each card also required an amount of Monuments in its elemental affinity. Power wells and Monuments were built into the game maps, and the ones that were not in the srater area were usually rather heavily guarded. I was actually rather good at using strike forces to take over wells and monuments, and I used a defensive tower with a root nexus function to protect my areas. It was VERY effective.
I played Nature a lot because Nature was the only one with any sort of decent healing units and abilities. Used to have a combination of powerful normal archers and somewhat less powerful archers with poison arows on my walls... poison got through shields and some enemy units had considerable shielding. I liked killing them with poison arrows.

The story was also good. There was an epic struggle of the gods, of course- there always is. But there was also Rogan Kayle, an adventurer and folk hero who got into the mess because he was a simple cobbler who happened to look exactly like his country's King... so he got kidnapped for ransom but nobody cared becuse he was just a cobbler and he had some amazing adventures. HIs storyline was neatly integrated into the whole thing, and he became a unit in the game- a Legendary card, meaning there could only be one in any given battle.

I remember there were 12-player maps! Three maps with four players each, but if that guy on Map 3 didn't pull the lever in time you on Map 1 wouldn't get to the Big Bad Boss to kill it.

Man, I miss BattleForge... But thankfully, some dedicated nerds fans are trying to bring it back! No idea how the legal situation with EA is but hopefully they get it done :D

From Ashes is a Nuzlocke following the survivors of a devastating attack on a Fire clan as they struggle to survive and find a new home
@Kahvinporo

Unfortunately, the Japanese servers were shut down May 24th this year.

I'm pretty sad that I didn't even know the game existed until after the English servers were closed. I've been a fan of the SMT games (and spin-offs like the Persona series) for consoles/handhelds for years, but I only heard of the online game sometime last year when I was looking for info on one of the wikis for certain demons.

Aw dang : / That is pretty crappy thing to happen, the game was awesome!

And now I'm kinda sad that I never got a chance to recreate my chars. Maybe I'll just turn them into ocs.....

It isn't a game for your computer. But it's a mobile game that I loved so much. It was called Dino Dominion, where you get rare dinosaur cards and participate in events, the main story, and the areas against other players. I was originally level 250+ on it. But they closed the English version. I think the Japanese version is still up, but I can't read Japanese.. the game gives me so much nostalgia. It was actually really fun. And the cards looked so cool! :o

*shakes head sadly* I've played a lot of mmos in the past. I still have my runescape, club penguin and habbo account but there are some games which I miss dearly 1) Spineworld I loved it for it's steampunk/isometric style and it's great graphics. You could still explore a large part of the map and get lots of furniture for your apartment without actually having to pay real money, provided you had enough in-game currency, which could be easily earned. The mini-games and quests were really fun too. It's still my favourite mmo :3 This game was bought by some company and got renamed as Migoland and they rebuilt the whole game (which also closed down). I hated it. They removed all the steampunk and fantasy elements to it and replaced it with modern settings. 2) petpetpark It was really laggy but enjoyable. Several mmos I've played but don't really miss will be barbie girls, toontown and tamagotchi city as I didn't invest much time in them. There are some mmos that still exist today (but I don't play anymore) like Ourworld, poptropica and moshi monsters.
