SalamanderCmndr No problem, I don't think its dorky xD Its a cute thing to have stick with you for so long.
I sure hope so! A skin would be perfect, I considered making one but it costs way too much for me to be able to do tbh .n.

I don't have a fursona, although I keep telling myself to make one. But I have a really hard time picking an animal :S. I'm looking at either mouse, deer or mouse-deer (chevrotain) but don’t feel strongly about any of them. I don’t have a very strong personal connection with any one animal. Or there are animals that are personally meaningful in my life but they just “aren’t me." terrawah made a good point about well-known animals and their associated personality traits. That's partly why I'm less likely to pick an obscure species as a fursona.
I also want to add that some animals may not be chosen because their symbolism may not seem attractive to many people. Who would want to be a sheep, or a cockroach? Maybe some people do, but if you think about the stereotypes associated with them, it's not surprising that people go for dogs or lions instead. Prey species often don't have the same appeal as predators, even though there are some that are powerful and intimidating in their own right (e.g moose, cape buffalo). On another note, naturally expressive animals would be easier to work with too, compared to something 'blank eyed' like fish.
Chimpanzees and other apes for me seem too similar to humans, so for me, it'd be like saying I have a 'human' for a fursona, which doesn't represent any particular aspect of my personality.

Does that Pokemon fandragon exist yet? Check out this
thread, where you can find Pokemon fandragons in one place :)
I can definitely see why primates would be an uncommon species choice for fursonas, considering fursonas are supposed to be a non-human representation of ourselves - and primates are pretty human-like in appearance/behavior. But I think it's cool that yours is a chimpanzee! Very unique!
I've created a few characters for myself, but my main 'sona is a bird (a pileated woodpecker, to be specific). I like to think that's pretty unique. ^^ My other two are a little more cliche (a fox and a cardinal gryphon, actually very close to the Cardinal Hippogriff here).

i have 3 fursonas and two of them are dogs lmao
the other one is a shark tho. i've had a couple of shark characters in the past
the boy i've got rn is a nurse shark and my old one was a leopard shark
ppl usually go for great whites or unidentifiable-species-of-shark-with-ears-for-some-reason
but hey im not complaining i love seeing people w/ shark characters the species deserves more love
im also tempted to make a moth fursona but we'll see how that turns out lol

I have a dragon/draconequus fursona, the latter being less common, I suppose.

I don't have a fursona, but if I did make one I'd choose albatross or komodo dragon, as they're my favourite bird and reptile respectively :V
I don't personally identify much with any one animal though so I guess it wouldn't be a fursona, just a anthro OC.

Right now mine is a canine-ish creature, though like is mentioned here, canines are really common.
I love the appeal of more uncommon creatures, especially mythical ones (dragonssss).
I've got a rough idea for this interdimensional/alien creature that I'm really liking atm, I just need to get it drawn.
But I really love my canine sona...that is my dilemma Dx
It's great hearing about everyone's stories and sonas, it's really interesting!
