I've been thinking about getting some kind of lizard lately but I'm not too sure on what would be a good idea.
I was thinking of getting a leopard gecko, but after doing some research on them, I think I'll wait (GOSH I HAD NO IDEA THEY COULD LIVE TO BE 20 YEARS OLD)

So uhhh yea
I'm kinda stumped now.

Any suggestions??

What's mostly throwing you off about the leopard gecko? It's longevitiy?
I know leopard geckos are meant to be the easiest starter reptile but if you're against them may I recommend a green anole?
They're very very very adorable and mostly inexpensive as far as reptiles go. although god knows reptiles are never actually 'inexpensive'
I had one when I was growing up and I absolutely loved him.
They live between 5 and 10 years.
They need about a 20g aquarium but they really like climbing so I'd recommend something bigger and taller.
They don't get very big - maybe about 7 or 8 inches?

Some care sheets say you can keep multiple green anoles together but I was taught that only applies to females. If you plan on getting a male, only get one.

Here's some care sheets maybe?

I second the suggestion for starting out with a green anole. I owned two and they were awesome and also super easy to care for.

I would NOT recommend a bearded dragon as a starter lizard. Their health can be delicate at times, especially while young.

Definitely for the green anole.
Easy to care for and relatively cheap to maintain compared to other reptiles.
Plus, they can change color from green to brown. I've seen them do it. How cool is that?

Leopard Gecko!
They are one of the best starter lizards, ever! I love my little girl to death.

@Cyndaquil Yea. I have yet to go off to college and all that and I wouldn't wanna have to leave the gecko behind or have to get rid of it if the college didn't allow pets on campus. (I'd totally get one other wise.) @Dragon ((pointing you here bc yea))

@NovaLovesFrogs@Davesprites And if all you guys are saying that green anoles are the best starter pets for me, then I think thats what I'll try to go with! Thanks guys! ((AND THANKS @CYNDAQUIL FOR THOSE CARE SHEETS)

Just don't get two males and keep them in the same tank. Whether or not they fight, the young/weaker one can end up dying off.

Females seem to get along with each other alright as long as you don't crowd them.

Good luck!

You're very very welcome!
And good luck, I just know you'll love your future anole.
