My strategy is to end all names in -th.
The first half of the name might be the name of one or both parents, or some blend of them. Or some feature of the dragon, or a phrase or word. During Pushes I often get thematic about it, with variations on a theme.
I have a lot of fun naming dragons! I even have a dragon in my clan to perform that role in context.

I try to name most of mine in the Pernese way. :P Also ending in the -th. Mnementh, Ramoth, etc. :) I used MANY names from the Pern series! <3

another suggestion: get a bunch of words that remind you of the dragon, mush them together and add or remove letters until it looks like a name. my personal favourite method, along with taking names off weird minerals.
